  • Remote Generator shut down

Posted by Darcy on November 7, 2020 at 6:44 am

After replacing the main controller on our Kohler Generator we have discovered that our dash switch to turn OFF the Gen Set is not working. The ON switch is working fine. The Kohler remote meter in Bay 1 will shut down the Generator, as will the switch directly on the Gen set itself. Marathon suggested it’s a techlink issue, I have located the control module, the fuse is good. I’m wondering if someone with an understanding of the Marathon relay board can help understand if it might be just a relay or something simple?

    Thanks!

    Darcy,

Question, you changed the control box on the front that reads hours and functions? If so where did you get it?

Reason I ask is that box is Marathon proprietary and if you didn’t get it from them things won’t work.

And yes Techlink would control that. Marathon doesn’t have too many proprietary things on the bus but that is one of them.

I had to change mine on the 07 and that’s what I remember.

Thanks, yes my controller crashed and wouldn’t allow the generator to keep running. I got the new controller directly from Kohler, no problems with it running now, just the remote off switch from inside the coach. It’s not a big issue as I have options and thought it would be nice if it was something simple to resolve. I’m in Canada, so it might be a bit before we can stop in at Coburg to have it looked at.
