Dave & Jill…you mention “Remove all countertops and window sills and replace with light weight granite.”
What is light weight granite? My local dealer didn’t know what that was unless it was just a thinner piece of granite.
I too would like to replace my Corian countertops with granite. I’m wondering if I could/should use a local granite countertop specialist at home up north while my coach is readily available and be very convenient. The alternative is use a Prevost specialist which would mean juggling my schedule and sleeping arrangements during my southern winter trip…I know my wife and cat wouldn’t like that.

The granite used is definitely thin granite. Your local installer might be able to handle it but if it were me I would have it installed by a Prevost specialist. It will cost more but my guess is your stress will be reduced and the end job will have no excuses. That would be worth the extra cost and time to me. Hope this helps.

Dave the coach looks reat, Im thinking of changing the brass out but cant figure out where to get the shower enclosure parts. Where did you find that stuff?

It is kind of a hollowed out granite slap where the void is filled with a light-weight filler. Or it is a sandwich made up of a slice of thin granite, 1/4 to 3/8 thick and glued/bonded to other materials. In this way, the outer appearance remains that of granite, whereas the unseen parts are other light-weight materials. This is being done to reduce the overall weight. We all know that weight is an issue with our coaches.

After using the coach over the past year coach is back at Donnies for more work. We hate the hardwood! It shows everything and requires near constant cleaning. It is easily scratched by our 25 lb dog. While stored the electric went off. I had forgotten to empty ice maker. Water drained on 1.5 sq foot area of floor pulling up finish. We are changing to tile that resembles hardwood. Sure wish I had gone that direction in the first place. From my experience I would sure not recommend hardwood flooring in a coach.

We got Jeff to do luxury vinyl planking instead of hardwood. Our dogs have not scratched it in any way. Some of the real wood trim piecse can be scratched but not the planking.
The advantage is weight, not affected by water, and not cold to the touch as our tile was. It looks like real wood and there are many choices.
Just because tile and carpet does not show dirt as easy as dark flooring does not mean the dirt is not there.

Folks, engineered wood is dimensionally stable. The hand scraped variety hides scratches better than the matte or gloss finishes.
