Relay location?
Does anyone know where the relay is that controls the passenger side control panel on air conditioning panel on dash. I think it is the relay that comes off the alternator relay wire. Put new alternator on today because other alternator positive cable came off and fried it. I think it blew that relay because the passenger side a/c still want come on and the red battery light on dash is lit up. It is on my 99 Prevost H345 Featherlite Vantare! I have looked everywhere I can think of-It’s probably right in front of me.Lol! If anyone knows I would appreciate it! Thanks- David Cain

I am not familiar with your conversion, however I do recall on some vintage Prevost coaches the 50DN alternator had a relay post. That was used to send a signal that the alternator had output and that in turn would extinguish the low voltage dash light.
I think, but don’t know this for sure that when Prevost went to the Vanner monitor that device eliminated the need for the relay. If you have a monitor on your coach, use a tester to verify you have inputs that are within the correct range, and then measure voltages at the outputs to see if the monitor is the problem with the dash light.

This one has a relay on it for the a/c because when I had the bus air worked on about a month ago the mechanic said that the relay wire on the alternator goes to that relay and is designed to shut down that passenger side bus air so that you could continue to drive without exhausting the batteries so that you could get it somewhere to be repaired.

My response was in reference to the red light on the dash. I think you have two separate issues.
Prevost has always had a decal on the front and rear electrical boxes listing and showing the locations of all relays and CBs. I’m not aware of any that would be elsewhere. On one of my coaches the dash AC fan relay was one of the silver ones that looked like it came off of a 40 or 50’s vintage car, but I have no knowledge of H3 coaches.

My coach has the Vanner AND what I believe is the relay to which you are referring. On mine, relay post of the 50DN energizes the relay which turns off the dash charge light and powers the daytime running lights and my entire road air system. Mine is a standard relay located in the rear junction box. These relays come in 12 and 24 volt versions. Also, make sure your new one is rated for and adequate amp load…there are some cheapies out there.
