Also any suggestions around Zion Nat. Park in Utah? Willow Wind near by was recommended by an acquaintance but not sure of his understanding of what a big rig needs. Thanks.

Mesa has some really nice mobile home parks that also have RV parking. Goodyear, AZ has an excellent park as well. I believe those are the only 2 I have stayed at but both were excellent. Just depends upon which end of town you prefer.

45 minutes down I 10 at Casa Grande and there’s Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort stayed there five winters, nice place.

Hi – Sadly, The Motorcoach Resort closed last year and has been converted in to storage. The url for the website is still functional, but it takes you to their storage with no mention of the Resort.

Phoenix is so large, it would be helpful to know a little more about where you might wish to be or what you might wish to do. There are quite a few choices in the region that aren’t technically “Phoenix”.

We spent the past winter in Casa Grande and found it to be just the right size. Phoenix is easily accessible, but (for example) driving to “Phoenix” from Casa Grande can take 35 minutes to Chandler, AZ or 1.5 hours to Surprise, AZ.

I’d be happy to offer any assist if you’d like, but it would help to know if there is an area, activities, or other preferences of particular interest.

Tom: I’ve neglected to let you know the Motorcoach Resort at Wild Horse Casino (actually it was across the Interstate IIRC) has closed. Nice place, near Interstate, etc. But gone.

We stayed at Monte Vista for much of the month of March 2020 hiding from the pandemic. You will find two or three different addresses for it. The RV resort is part of a very large RV/park model community. Where we stayed was very new and there was another large section under construction adjacent. Don’t try to enter on East Baseline (you’ll get turned around by security, entrance to “trailer park”). There might be an entrance off South Ellsworth into the new section under construction (which might be a trailer park or RV resort, not sure). We entered from Steven Pollard Avenue (off S. Ellsworth) through a nice entrance.

I can’t remember how we got to Monte Vista; maybe Hilgers told us about it, maybe we found it on our own. We liked it and would probably go back. We found it conveniently located to important things like Costco, Home Depot, Walgreens, grocery stores, and completely by accident many of the friends who winter in AZ. Its also “close” to the mountains east of Phoenix where we sent probably seven or eight days touring as well as the airplane grave yards to the south.

If you’ve never been to Phoenix before, its a HUGE area. It’s spread out for many, many miles.

Thanks for the suggestions. Visiting some friends in Goodyear on the west side but I am not opposed to driving some to see them if there is a nice place. Stayed at Leaf Verde then – a glorified parking lot. Nice people and ok for a stop but nothing special. Ill look at the suggested places.

Been here lots of times. Good power, water and dump. Some amenities like pool. Across highway from the casino. East of Scottsdale, but only takes about 15-20 minutes from the 101 all the way to end of E. Shea Blvd. then just a couple of miles on 87.

Only other place I know of in Scottsdale is Westworld run by the city, but only one dump station and lots of gravel and dust. Better location if you need to be in close, but not sure it is worth the hassle. Also, if any events are happening, you won’t likely be able to get in.

There are some other places that have been in some of the guide books, but they won’t take anything larger than a 40′ and have age restrictions etc.

If you want to be near Goodyear, stay at the RV Park in Goodyear! Great place, plenty of room, wide roads. We have stayed there many times!

Both are nice. We usually stayed at Cotton Lane but it’s mostly a MHP with a gravel RV parking spaces. The Destiny resort is really move of a resort with paved roads, trees and grass.

There are also many beautiful state/county camp grounds in the Phoenix area. Most notably, Lost Dutchman in the Superstitions, Usury in Mesa, Cave Creek in Cave Creek. Sites are usually much larger than commercial camp grounds and have 50A and water but no sewer. Works well for us as we typically don’t stay longer than 10-14 days in one place- we tend to get bored. With all the new RVers out there one has to reserve space pretty much one year in advance.

Cave Creek is a beautiful park and we have stayed there several times. Forgot to mention that one! The spaces are huge and if you like warm beautiful quiet nights, this is for you! Much depends upon which area of Phoenix you plan to visit.
