  • Recommendation for auto-fill fixture and float sw

Posted by Andrew on July 3, 2023 at 6:09 pm

My coach did not come with an auto-fill and shut off for the fresh water tank. I’d like to add this if possible. Are there standard parts some of the converters use for this or is it proprietary? I think I might be able to figure something out with an irrigation valve and a float switch, but would rather not reinvent the wheel. Thanks

Don’t know the parts information, but mine has a plug about a 1/4″ from the top of the tank with two contactor’s wired to the the valve which appears to be sprinkler style valve. Once energized the valve opens, when the water makes contact with the two contact plug at the top of the tank it shuts down the valve.

Sorry for the vague explanation, I am not very good with electrical issues but do have a basic knowledge.

I love Automation but when it comes to filling or dumping, this makes me nervous.

    Following…

I used to think fresh water auto fill was silly. Then spent 13 weeks at Raleigh Fairgrounds it was quite nice to run laundry, dishwasher, etc without worrying if water tank had capacity.

Then it stopped working. Seems like a valve on the auto fill inlet is clogged.

Ours is setup with a relay to turn it on and it uses the water level indicators to turn the relay off. As soon as it reads full it shuts down. It will not fill again until I hit the “fill” button again. I still won’t leave the coach while it’s filling as it has failed to turn itself off a couple of times.
