The flange on the end of the axle? Other than leaking around the face of the hub I am not able to imagine that making a hub seal leak?

yep, the flange on the axle is bent . i may be able to take to a machine shop and get it trued up . it has a pretty good bow in it. i hope the axle from the H3 will work. i really dont want to use this axle! My first clue should of been all the RTV and no gasket! do you guys think the axle will work?

The reason the outer axle flange gets bent is someone uses the three threaded holes in the flange to push the axle out. That is their intended purpose, but the problem is if all three don’t have a bolt threaded into them, and each bolt in succession is turned just a little at a time, all the force is appled to one side and the axle flange gets bent.
When you were talking about a hub seal I thought you were talking about the one on the rear of the hub.
That axle is ruined and it needs a repair or a replacement. As long as the flange is bent you can tighten it until the bovines arrive back to the house and it will still leak, but worse it is applying unequal forces to the axle shaft when it is tightened. I suspect the H3 axle is the same. Easy to check if you bring the bent one with you.
