I need to up grade my rear camera and monitor, It’s so bad I can’t hardly see my toad, It is black and white and sunshine on the car causes white lines on the picture it’s bad. I would like to replace camera and old RGBmonitor without running new cables to rear, Any suggestions ??

You could have the best picture in the world on the rear camera monitor and depending on its orientation, the position of the sun, and if you are wearing a light colored shirt which will reflect back at you in the monitor when the sun is just right your efforts will be wasted.

What really should happen in all our coaches is to have the converters locate the monitors so they will not reflect back at us and which will never see a ray of sunshine. But that ain’t going to happen until new buyers bitch and complain.

I think he’s talking about the effect of sunshine on the toad causes harsh blown out lines/areas in the picture – not a reflection on the monitor itself.

The effect of the white lines should be better with a newer camera. The effect your talking about I remember “back in the day…” dont have any suggestions for you… but, I know it can be better than what you have!

RVCAMS.COM Great folks. Will get you the hardware you need and the instructions for replacement. Great support. They were actually able to match me up with color system that could be used with the original wiring in my 1988 CC. It didn’t look right after doing the wiring and one call showed me the error of my ways. I now have an awesome backup camera setup without running a single new wire.

Both are an issue and even if you resolve one of the concerns the other will still negate full use of the camera/monitor.

Before the sun comes up in the morning daylight, overcast days, and just after the sun goes down I have a monitor that provides a great picture. All bets are off at other times including night when various light sources just mess up the picture quality.

    Bill,

If you don’t mind sharing, what unit/model cam and monitor did you install??

I bought a Voyager setup from RVCAMS.com. New camera, new monitor which just a bit of modification of the dash slipped right in the old hole and a wiring description for the RV CAM folks.

They were there immediately when I called with a question and got the exact right answer. Now I have a full color backup with sound and infrared night viewing (like daytime). No issues with views any time of day but maybe I just haven’t had the sun gods line up just right in the last 15,000 miles or so.

Called RV cams and Jeff said I would have to mount camera on the outside because of the night vision would reflect on glass and cause problems, Or go with non night vision and put it behind glass and have no night vision, Glass is pretty small is there another way to go??
