RE: Bay Locked
On my 1993 Liberty, I put the key in the locked narrow bay containing the millions of fuses, breakers, and other electrical assemblage. The key turned slightly. Pulling the key out, I was surprised to hold the entire barrel, and the locking mechanism. The locksmith I called said he couldn’t fix it. Has anyone had this problem, and how was it fixed other than blowing it up?

Syd did you look to see if there was any parts in the bottom of the bay. The bay below that one has the same locks and it should be installed the same way. Compare as see if you are missing any parts, especially the ones that hold the lock in place.

The fuse Bay is above the back drive wheel, so no Bay below. I have checked the other Bays, and there is no visible evidence the lock is deep enough to see. The encasement of the locking mechanism itself is no bigger than your little finger. Thanks for the idea though.

The lock tumbler mechanism, if that’s what you are talking about is held in place by a sort of “C” shaped spring steel clip that slides into a slot in the tumbler body and retaines the lock in the door.
Your clip might have broken and or fallen out whole.

Pat, If I were close by I would loan you some duct tape, just kidding, it sounds like a “keeper”has broken or fallen out you might find one at Napa. It should not be a hard fix. Keep your chin up I know you have had a lot of problems, but look on the bright side if you had not bought the bus you would not have come to Riverbend, and the generator battery would not have blown up and you would not have met me! ha ha Well I am going to Nashville for service 19th of this month. been putting it off because Miss Mattie is not doing well. Megan says hello, she is down with torn cartilage in knee and leg she is hard headed and will not slow down, If you get back to V.A. stop by again we would be glad to see you. Gary

Are you able to get the door open?
I had the plastic mechanism inside the door to break on the inverter/battery compartment on my H3 and could not open the door. I had to crawl over the hot water heater and open the door from the inside. In a pinch you should be able to reach in with something from the ski bay door next to it and pull the latch rods to open.By the way ski bay is what Prevost calls the small pass through bay over the drive wheels. I bought a few new handles to replace the the broken one and start replacing the others( $65.00 each) but they are just different enough that the lock mechanism will not work. Even went to Nashville Prevost and they could not figure out how to make it work either!!! I have an idea but I have to get a machine shop to make an adapter so I can attach the electric door locks.
