In case you wondered what it looks like behind your mirror’s, here is a photo. The big phillips screw bolt to the body, there are no nuts on the inside.

    OK, here’s the scoop…

I received both my new mirrors, unfortunately one of the glass got broken in transit so it gave me a good excuse to learn how to R & R the glass. Ramco was very helpful and sent me 2 new mirrors just in case I screw it up. I did suggest they enhance their packaging so as not to have broken glass in shipping.

My new mirrors have an improved motor that is suppose to help with the shaking and vibrating. I was told they have had this new motor for some time and have yet been able to get Prevost to make the necessary changes in their ordering. They have no other option except to continue to build mirrors for Prevost with the old motors per their spec.

So I was happy to be the one to give it a test and see how they work. I’ll report back after some road time in about a week. In the meantime, I did a YouTube video of how to change out the glass. It’s now on the Video’s of Interest Thread.

Good video. Very helpful to understand how to get the mirror off the head.

    Great video Tom!

Very helpful to everyone, and a repair that can be done on the road and requires minimal tools.

    Keep um coming …

Tim: If he doesn’t pull out straight, the repair cannot be done on the road and you will need quite a few tools. In a circumstance like this, you are probably better off leaving the coach with Jeff and catching a ride with someone else. A 45 foot coach like a 40 footer. Just sayin’.

    This
is a follow up after installing the new Ramco mirrors with the
suggested improved motor. There is little improvement in my opinion
and I will continue to find a solution for the shakes.

    This
very short Youtube was done at 65 mph, smooth road and very little
wind. There was two minutes of video, but no point in boring anyone
with 2 minutes of shakes. I tried different settings with the glass
and mirror positions in an attempt to lesson wind buffeting
turbulence, but nothing made any difference.

    I
will be sending this to Ramco for their review.

    Tom,

In all your experience, have you seen this on both sides, or mostly the drivers side? From looking at the design and placement of the drivers mirror, it seems to be closer to the windshield/side and I am thinking it gets much more buffeting from the wind coming off the coach. Would it make a difference to maybe adjust the arm of the mirror getting the body of the mirror slightly further away from the windshield/side of the coach?

Oh and of course still keep it from getting blocked from the a-pillar and still give you good sight down the side of the coach.

With mine Charles, the driver side is kept within 1 inch of the side window keeping it very close. That seems to be the best position for mine and has less shake than the passenger side. The passenger side is pretty much where it has to be.

After so much anticipation … what a disappointment.
