Radiator Tensioner Pully
Here we sit on I40E near the I26 exit. It appears that the tensioner pulley bearing let loose wihile idling in traffic and belt got torn up. help is onthe way!

Just to clarify ….gear box to fan ?
I have my take off used on pulleys to 5ODN alternator saved. If that is the one, do you see any numbers ? I can put my hand on it as its down stairs.
If they are the same …that will give you the Dayco number to source.

I think that is the small idler pulley beneath the belt between the 90 degree gearbox and the fan clutch pulley.
That is a press fit bearing and any average parts store should have the replacement. It sounds crude but I believe a hammer and a drift pin will be all needed to knock the bearing out, and with care the hammer will put the new one in. Not sophisticated, but in a pinch will work.
We have mentioned to our members in the past that on occasion a good practice is to relieve belt tension and spin all pulleys by hand, listen for noise or sense “growling” as an early indication the bearing(s) are beginning to fail.

If that is the idle pulley bearing I believe it’s a press fit on bolt then using washers to positioned it fully supporting the belt.
Alignment must be dead for belt support.

It is the lower pulley that is tensioned by the air bag. It is welded to the bracket due to the way if failed. Belt got wrapped in gear box and compromised seal. this is the gear box that drives the fan and the dash a/c. On my way to Nashville for parts,a new tensioner assembly and gear box. Hope to be back to Young Transportation by 13:00 tomorrow. Will have old tensioner and gearbox rebuilt for spares.

Bob MIne did the same thing last year.I started it up with full of air in air tenisoner the belt jump off and broke the
tension idler arm off, that is a special bolt, had to get it from Prevost, What I did notice was the old belt streached a lot

All fixed!!! Drove to Nashville Prevost on Sunday to pick up parts first thing Monday morning. Replaced tensioner arm,air bag and pulley. Also replaced gear box.
Tom Cook (Prevost), Youngs Transportation (Asheville,Nc) and Donnie Meyers were all on top of it. Thanks!
