Replacing a radiator on a late model XLII is rare and it surprised me. But a CAC is not uncommon.

I replaced my CAC and to do that I had to pull both the radiator and CAC because they are mounted together in an assembly. I did the CAC replacement in about 8 hours alone without the aid of any lifting devices, but did have to make a “bridge” to support them as I swung the assembly out of position.

Make sure you get the CAC with the million mile/seven year warranty. The OEM CAC is junk.

Our radiators can be recored if in fact it is in need of repair or replacement.

Yes the CAC is leaking. I plan ro replace with the Dura-Lite.

The radiator is not leaking yet. But the bottom corner is rotted away.

So I thought it wont be long and as long as I have to drain the coolant to get the CAC out now would be the time.

Brock, I just noticed you have a 40 foot coach and that means the two will not be side by side as in my 45. What I said may be invalid.

Brock What motor do you have 12.7 liter or 14 liter

what is the 10th digit of your VIN? The VIn plate can be seen on your drivers side front pillar front looking thru windshield from outside. I suspect something like 2PCW3349??101???? this Question marks are your unknown numbers. The sequence ?101, the ? Mark before numbers 101 is your year of chassis if its a “3” your shell was manufactured as a 2003 shell if its a 4 or 5, and you have 14 liter engine makes it some of the last of the XLII 40’s Rare bird, to the say the least

It was built 2005 (per vin)but wasn’t titled until 2008

It has the 12.7 erg engine.

I had my radiator re-cored while on the road in Texas this past winter. The RV/Truck repair shop that did the work said they have had very good experience re-coring radiators. They took it to a radiator shop in San Antonio or Austin. They said this is the only place they good. Radiator couldn’t be fixed, so it was re-cored. Was less expensive than getting a new one from Prevost. I got recommendations in both directions … “go new” vs “re-core”. A number of the recommendations have had actual experience with re-core on trucks and very large farm tractors. We did have to wait as the thickness or size of the Prevost radiator was not “standard” so the shop had to special order a core that it didn’t stock, took a couple of days.
