Question about shore power
With all the discussions on inverter, wiring, and other power related issues, I was wondering what others are doing about checking the shore power pedestal when first arriving at a campground site? Also, what other measures are being used to protect against bad shore power. Thanks!

I simply plug this in and don’t worry. This protects the coach against bad power not only when you first plug-in but while you’re plugged in. I wouldn’t leave home without one.

I am definitely not the sharpest knife in the drawer on electrical stuff, but over 23 years of plugging in plus dealing with 1000’s of power outlet customers the biggest issues I have had by far were caused by loose connections in the pedestal. Everything checks out until you load it up and then breakers trip or voltage drops or both.
I still plug in my surge protector which has warning lights for issues, but nothing is more common than having loose connections and all the problems caused by loose connections over time.

There’s big difference in a surge protected and a power protection device. A power protection device will include surge protection, but a surge protector is limited to surge protection only, The ones posted by Ben and I are the two dominate manufacturers of power protection devices for RVs.
