How many 8 D Batteries Did Liberty generally put in their 1996 Classics ?

Mine has Three. On mine there isn’t room for anymore where they are located, above aft Cruisair condensing unit.

Mine has three too. Someone told Me that the coach most likely came with 6 or 8 ? And has probably deleted a few in the past. Was just Curious ? I am too feeble to crawl back in there , LOL
One can get a lot of Mis-information on these majestic old Beasts ! And or Mis-Conceptions , Which I am Guilty of. Usually , If I read long enough , I can find what I am looking for ? The correct answer was what Tom said. Until gel and AGM Liberty was using Group 27 and I think they used 6 of them, but those are not the 8D size.

Jack finch had a 2008 made with 6 8Ds and there is two more I know of
Mine has 4. 8Ds but will have 6 8Ds. soon

My Classic Has (4) 8D’s – but it is a H3.

I think Tom’s answer was in the context of an XL, but the reality is we all need the number of batteries that will allow us the use of our bus as we intend for it to be used.

I have (8) 8D’s.
The rack is built to handle 8 and that is what I have in it.
Don’t know if it came with that many but the rack was built for that number.

I love it when Buddy needs batteries, I have him on my 3 year call log, just in case he screwed up his Lifelines.

My 2008 was converted with 4 but I asked Liberty to change the rack to 6 before I purchased it.

Obviously Jack had room if he could have 2 more batteries installed, but each coach is a separate problem regarding additional space for batteries. My previous coach which was much like yours had zero extra space unless I wanted to give up space used by something else. If I needed to add 2 8D batteries in that coach I could give up a Cruiseair, long range fuel, or use part of the first bay or entertainment center. Every space was filled with something so it was not a question of adding a couple more batteries, but if I did what was I prepared to give up.
Liberty like all converters had to make adjustments when going from the XL layout to the XLII, especially those built since EGR became the rule. Locating the CAC next to the radiator instead of stacking it with the radiator had a huge adverse impact on space. Just the loss of the space behind the tag axle combined with the space lost on the OTR evaporator side bay to the slide controls had a huge ripple affect on the entire belly layout.
The correct question regarding adding batteries is where would you place them, and what would you take out of that space?

On mine since I took off the bullshit zip dee air awning then I could take out the air tank and compressor in the battery compartment so there is room in there where the other four house batteries are

Tom’s is waiting on my order so when he sells his truck he will have enough to buy his next tow rather than a slide coach.
