Proud owner of a new muffler
After I did not see any performance or mileage improvements but lots of noise and dust with my original “ventilated” muffler, I finally ordered a new muffler from Prevost. Like anything mechanical on this bus, the muffler is huge and heavy, about 60 lb. UPS shipped it as is without any covering. Prevost was not worried about it being damaged in transit. They were right – it arrived in fine shape. The install should go smoothly…..
For future reference the muffler is made by Nelson part #28045-N. It looks like stainless steel but is not.

Looks like electro galvanized steel. It would last a lot longer if they did hot dip galvanized

I put one on my Royale last year did it from under coach and from back of motor with long extension on ratchet to do band clamp, got chrome tip from chrome shop worked great blew out the side like the flat one did

Gonna see what my 2 stroke sounds like straight when muffler goes. Ought to wake up some folks with jakes kicked in.

I had a hole in my muffler on my 8V92 and it grew slow enough to where I did not notice the noise right away. When I did realize something was making noise and I found the hole and replaced the muffler it was like a new coach.
The noise may sound cool for a while, but when it went away I realized how annoying it was to me. I can only imagine how loud it sounded outside.

Replacing a muffler is one of the easier jobs to do on a Prevost.
Certainly easier than finding air leaks!
