Here is the answer from our web guy:

Tom, that error means the folder on the server isn’t set up to allow uploads, which obviously isn’t true. I have tested (made a post in that thread that you can delete) and can’t make it fail or generate that error. My first guess is a cache issue causing a false error. I would try a different browser and see it it works. If it does, you know that was the issue. Then on the non-working browser, clear cache…if it still doesn’t work, it will need to be de-installed/re-installed…
sometimes cache hangs to a point where only that will fix it.

Dick I had the same problem on multiple computers using Internet Explorer after I changed the browser settings to fix the slow typing problem. My solution was to use Google Chrome. Now I can type fast and post pictures.

Tom, Joe, Bryan: I’m using Internet Explorer 11.96xxxxx on a Windows 7 Home Premium machine.

I can upload pictures to Outlook, Facebook, and a couple of other forums that are powered by vBulletin. I appreciate the tech guy translating the error message and then acknowledging what the error message was trying to tell us probably wasn’t the case. I don’t have server (my PC) locked down.

Sounds like Google Chrome might be the answer to my problem?

Yes, Google Chrome is the answer. I had the issue with IE 11 on both Win 7 Home and Win 7 Pro machines. Install Google Chrome. It’s easy. You can still use IE for other browsing if you want, but use Chrome to access PrevComm.

FWIW we are not alone in experiencing issues as a result of the proliferation of devices, browsers and other factors that influence our ability to view files, add photos, or type text.

That is not an excuse and we want everything to work properly, but I have had issues on two sites recently where I could not access documents or files and after much effort the solution was to change browsers. The companies in question are large multi-national companies and their employees in one case are reduced to accessing files from a disc because they also cannot open them using a variety of browsers.

In another case I can only open needed files using IE, while in almost every other case Chrome works. Did I ever tell anyone how much I like computers?

Jon is right that browser compatability issues are becoming more widespread. My office uses a very expensive and widely used web-based program published by a huge corporation that just does not work properly if accessed through IE, so we have to use Chrome just for that program. When I complained to the vendor I was given a lengthy technical reason for why, but all I heard was “just use Chrome when IE doesn’t work,and vice versa.” My IT guys say essentially the same thing. My point is that if a huge company has the same problem we experience here, there is plainly nothing wrong with PrevComm’s site architecture and it is still the best value ont he internet.

Something is going on somewhere with something !!

I use the compatibility mode when using PC site with IE and it works flawlessly until I try to post a picture… then I have to remove the http://www.prevostcommunity.com from my compatibilty mode and then I can post pictures but then it takes forever to add a comment to the pictures because it goes so slowly when typing which was the reason for the compatibilty mode in the beginning. Also same problem using Google Chrome.

I’m sure it will be sorted out one day. In the meantime I am appreciating everyone’s efforts to keep PC the wonderful site that it is today…. go PC and THANK YOU !!
