  • Problem with “View Posts Since Last Visit”?

Posted by Archived on January 18, 2012 at 7:49 pm

I really appreciate the “view posts since last visit” feature. The last several days I have had a problem with one particular post that keeps showing as new. Anyone else keep seeing this one?

The feature regarding viewing the posts since last visit is based on when you last logged in (or out, I cannot remember). Having said that however I instead use the colored flags as a guide to new posts.

When I log in it brings up the forum and on the forum list of boards there will either be blue, orange, or yellow flags. If the flags are blue I ignore those boards, but if they are orange or yellow it signals I have not read all the posts in that board.

I know our web guru has massaged that feature and I presumed it worked as intended. But if a post you have seen keeps popping up obviously something is wrong so he will be asked to see what happened. That particular post was moved so there might be a hidden glitch related to that.

    Rodger,

In the upper righthand corner of the Forums page is the link for “View Posts Since Your Last Visit.” See red arrow below. Using this link opens all new posts on one page so you can scroll them.

When the post was moved it may have been assigned a date in the future so it shows up as new because the date has not passed. At least that is what our guru thinks is the problem and since he has been right almost all the time I have to agree

I apologize in advance to all for taking up space troubleshooting the cyberworld, but I really like this forum and want to see it grow and do well.

Jon – I looked at the original post and the moved post. What I noticed that was different about the moved post is that it just lists a date of post and not a time of post. All other posts in the forums use the date/time format. I suspect that might be a clue to finding the glitch.

According to our guru, Joe it has been fixed.

Feedback is good because while we think we have identified and fixed all bugs, only real world use will prove that.

What we are finding now is that what we think are problems are user created, such as us putting in a bogus date or miscategorizing something. We are still learning.

FWIW…..I have a suggestion and really this is because….. A) I purchased a new laptop and it’s faster and better then the boat anchor I had. Anyway, here is something I found that would help me and I do need a lot these days according to our 20 year old son. Your out of touch Dad, referring to my flip phone as showing my age. What the hell , .after 2 years of using it and starting to like it. The new laptop has a 2 inch smaller screen and weighs 50 % less. no moving parts. like hard drive… Mac-air.

The post date and time run together. Could they ID by different color ? Making the date stand out with a space seperation also ?

    Thanks,

Mr. Al……..If you give me Maddie I will see if our web guru can add more space in between the year (12) and the time. But until that happens are you sure it is not a good time to visit LensCrafters?

Jon, how about the 20 year old son ? No training required,

I just can’t figure where he had the time to get his PHD by age 20…. knows everything.
