Problem with Lincoln MKX transmission
After returning home from FMCA in Gillette, WY, we started having issues with the transmission in our 2017 MKX throwing codes. I foolishly let the battery run down along the way from not running the car often enough or long enough at the end of the day. A jump start battery easily restarted the car but the codes came on and no amount of clearing them has stopped that. The stealership in this area was useless simply charging me a “diagnostic fee” to clear the codes, driving it and finding the codes really do come back, and then concluding “something appears to be blocking the torque converter from locking up…..” but offering nothing more than a vague guess of 15 to 25 hours to find out what is wrong if and when they could get around to scheduling tearing the transmission apart!
Surely, there must be a better way. I could buy and have a rebuilt transmission installed for less than that. Any suggestions? Have any of you experienced anything like this with these Lincoln/Ford Edge transmissions? Any recommendation as to where to buy a remanufactured unit if that is what it takes?
