I doubt this is your answer but you never know. I was driving down the road and the TV came down above me intermitently. Scared the living daylights out of me. It would come down a few inches. Then a bit more. And a bit more. This went on for miles until the 48″ tv came all the way down.

Turned out we have TV Lift up and down switches in multiple places. One set is by our salon recliner whose arm was butted up against the switch. I guess as I hit bumps down the road the chair would hit the TV Lift Down button and down it came. It wasn’t a ghost or a short.

Would that be in the same space as the TV. I see the two motors and gears that run the lift. How would I bypass the saftey switch to be able to get the bus out of park and turn buzzzer off.

I think maybe your chasing the wrong problem. The only safety I know of that won’t allow the trans to engage is the slides being out. I could be wrong but on a Marathon the TV operates off an engine cuttout. When the motor starts I can have the TV on and it will just shut the TV off but I can still move the TV up or down.

Regardless of that if yours is similar to mine check the plunger the TV compresses when it goes back in, there should be a couple wires running to a relay or maybe your alarm that you could pull.

Wait, you pulled the breaker so that doesn’t matter, shit.

I just think it’s something else, I never heard of a converter adding a item that would not allow you to engage the trans. That’s a Prevost thing.

The TV lift in a Royale is not tied into a trans lockout. The only trans lockouts are the slides. Try extending the slides and bring them in again. Be sure the coach is at ride height when you do this. Adn be sure you press the slide switch until the light goes out so the pins are fully extended.

The TV lockout is above the driver’s head. It is a relay that disables the tv and lift when the ignition is on. The ignition switch sends voltage to the relay to make it open. You can disconnect that wire and operate the TV anytime you want.

Sorry did read all of it about not going into gear….if you run the slides out and back in and still will not go into gear, go to the third bay drivers side and the slide out modules will be in there….you can look at them and tell the status of the slide locks….is it showing them all locked for both slides…

Prevost has different over ride procedures based on the vintage of coach slides. A phone call to Prevost will get you the correct information needed to over ride any tranmission inhibiting cause.

On my version of slides (the last one before the “pinless” slides) if I trip all the slide circuit breakers all safety limits are overridden. Ideally if there is a problem it should be repaired ASAP, but to be able to move the coach, such as to get it to a safe place the use of over ride procedures may be required which is why Prevost has this option.

Thanks to everyone for all the help.

I wanted to give a little more info for anyone that might have this problem in the future. My problem was with the wireless remote control of TV lift. The controller had tried to close the lift when it was already closed. It burned up the start capacitor on the motors and one of the relays got stuck. The relays on an 03 Royale are located above the entry door behind the 12 v panel.
