  • Prevost with 4 windows, some have some don’t?

Posted by Harry on April 2, 2017 at 12:16 pm

As the subject says, why do some Prevost have the two windows above the main windows while others don’t? Is there also a specific year the Prevost discontinued the 4 window setup?

I think I’d have some trouble driving out of those windows but who knows. I’ve almost mastered setting the cruse and taking a bathroom break!

I think you are talking about the H3 and some very early XL coaches. That’s the way they were.

Before the late 90’s I think converters stopped buying shells with the small eyebrow windows on the XL coaches because there always were cabinets behind them anyway. Then the H3 somewhere in the mid 2000 years switched from the four windshield set up to the larger front two windshield set up.

I was curious because the 98 coach I’m looking at in Florida has them.

HJ….Have you seen my past 2000 H Marathon # 591 currently for sale on PC ? If you have any questions on the extensive list of upgrades and time sensitive replacements everything can be documented. i.e.. 365 tire upgrade, air bags, shocks, norgran valves, TV’s and satellite, new refrig. etc

For Sale by current owner on PC

    Hi Al,

Thank you very much for the post. I’m looking for XL or XLII, mainly because I get enough “H” at home!

Is there any other change to the coach other than the 4 windows?

Later 1990’s XLs have disc brakes on steer and tag. Beyond vin T-5873 they have IFS. 1999 shells have 500

hp Series 60. Also most Marathon 40’s like ours have 250 gallon long range fuel tanks. Standard was 160. The “eyebrow” windows were optional, as well additional two side windows totalling 5 instead of standard three, plus two on bedroom standard. You can call Elgin and get build sheet

    H.J.

I realize XL/XLII and H3 have their own fans. Initally I wanted an XL/XLII partially due to the fact I believed the view out of an H3 would be too restrictive for the driver due to the lower seating position. I was also worried about the height of the H3. Once we fell in love with this coach, and putting some 22,000 miles on it, I found neither concern was an issue. We also like the added storage in the basement. I realize Al’s coach is beyond you budget, but I just want to add that is one of the rare Prevosts you will find for sale that will probably need very little to nothing in terms of things needing to be fixed. I’ve seen Al’s extensive list of things he has had done to that coach, and having gone through the same process (still working on it), I would not hesitate recommending Al’s coach.
