Greg, that is a shame isn’t it. I didn’t expect special treatment, I just wanted honesty, nothing more, nothing less.

Liberty has been top notch, the service at Prevost should be too.

    Peter,

I think it should have been in Prevost Service’s best interest to make ME a ‘good customer’, not the other way around.

Absolutely they knew it was our first Prevost.

They will not have that chance now.

    Peter,

If I can’t find the right people to work on our coach that I can trust, then the coach will be gone.

    Peter,

I have learned a long time ago to cut your losses early. Hopefully I won’t have to. I have a very low threshold for bad service. Life is too short.

    Mark,

Sorry to hear that your first experience was Less than you expected. I don’t have a new coach but my first experience was in Nashville and it was amazing… Literally, they rolled out the red carpet. Were great with me the bus and even my 9 year old. They did exactly what I asked them to work on they found a few other things that they corrected. It was a very positive expereince all around. During our big trip, We had our CAC replaced at Prevost Mira Loma and that wasn’t anywhere near the same experience or facility. When I got the bill it was way more than what they quoted me. Then when Big Al checked it over back at MCC he found several things they didn’t do quite right. I called the Branch Manager and he made it right.

Getting service at an independent shop in Alaska they said I couldn’t stay with Bus…. I said no deal they compromised or I was leaving..

My advice, find places you can build a relationship with and feel compfortable about…. Prevost is a good company… hopefully this is an isolated occurance… I wouldn’t right them all off….based on my experience lots of very smart, and helpful techs…some less than ideal ones as well. But that is how it is with anything.

    Enjoy the New bus

    Bill,

The Prevost facilities that are close to me are Mira Loma while in CA and Nashville when I’m in TN… both have not received wonderful reports on this thread (from you about Mira Loma and Tom on Nashville). I did’t have a wonderful experience in Ft. Worth and another poster on another thread said he got over filled with oil in Houston. What are we to do?

    I feel like I’m losing.

    MM,

Come on here. I would be super pissed too if I dropped 2m on a Bus but you need them. Take it for what it’s worth my friend but this is chicken shit, Granted they didn’t respect you and that would make me livid too.

What I would do is different than what you are doing. Next trip thru I wouldn’t avoid them, I would make sure to stop and get the tech and service writer in a room and ask them why did you do this to me. I confront things like this instead of staying away.

Better travels friend, keep your head up.

    Later

I am very sorry for the poor service you received at Prevost – Ft. Worth. I have used them several times over the past three years and have always received first class service. My service writer has been Jason and he has always been more than fair with me. I think Rodney helped me on my first visit, but now he is the Service Manager. I cannot say enough good things about the help and service I have received from Prevost – Ft. Worth.

Over the years, they have performed Level 3 services, generator services, A-Arm replacement, Air Bags all around, air dryer replacement, new wheel bearings, etc…, and the Techs put up with my constant presence, a few questions, and borrow my extra bright flashlight on occassion. They have given me good advice and pointed out items that may need future attention. With all that said, I cannot say they have been perfect, but I feel they have made up for it by always keeping me informed and made the effort to make sure I understand what is going on.

Please give them another chance and by all means let them know how you feel about your previous experience. I really think that they want you to feel confident in their service on the Prevost components on your coach.

Of course, this is easy for me to say, because the “new” and “warranty” on my coach went away about fifteen years ago and I just expect to pay for any service I ask for. So, like some of the answers above, I want to know “How Much”, “Why”, and “When Can I Have It Back” before I hand any service guy the keys to my baby.

Again, I am sorry for your first experience. I would give them another chance and feel free to tell Prevost – Ft. Worth that your my friend and they need to treat you better.

Just for the record, my only issue at Nashville is billing, the work and customer service is great.

I fully agree with those that have suggested you continue to use Prevost for their service, especially warranty work. The only viable alternative would be those repair shops that are Prevost experts and that would include the converter or the shops that advertise on this site because they do possess the expertise.

As has been suggested hit this matter head on with Prevost. Don’t keep them in the dark because if they don’t know your feelings about this they cannot help you or correct any errors they might have made regarding billing.

In the future when you deal with them make sure you know from the beginning what they will do, what they will charge, and if you have unaswered questions do they intend to bill you for the answers. Then stay with the coach and watch the work being performed and if necessary keep track of the times so if there is a billing error you have the correct information. They stand behind their work so for needed repairs there is no other place that offers as much peace of mind.

But Prevost is not the place to bring your coach for repairs on the conversion. The best place for that work is Liberty, but if it is not possible for you to go to Liberty, or Liberty to send a tech to you, they will still be able to help you locate a place to get needed work done.

As to complaints about Prevost service at some locations I am sure anyone can have a bad experience. From what I know about the various service centers each has its areas of expertise, each has a different customer base so they each will have strengths and weaknesses. From my own experience I would suggest you attempt to make one of the service locations your primary service provider. Unless you have a way of tracking your needed routine maintenance and can always provide the service center with not ony the coach history, but a list of the next needed service jumping around may end up costing more due to duplicating services, or worse, omitting needed service.

When you get to the point where you are asking for level XXX service both you and Prevost are at a disadvantage. If you look at the maintenance requirements for your chassis you will realize after the coach is purchased all of the services are staggered. Your oil changes are not due as often as chassis lube, coolant, transmission fluids, differential fluids, their filters, are all serviced at different intervals so unless a specific level of service changes all fluids and filters every time some needed service may be overlooked, or some needed services are done much more frequently than necessary. This is why if you develop a relationship with one service center you can work out a plan for your coach maintenance that does everything needed, but not anything more than needed. And you will know in the beginning what to expect for cost.
