Prevost Quality
Posted by Andy on November 22, 2017 at 11:16 amThis video appeared online overnight and I must say it answers the question as to why I went with a pre-owned Prevost over a new Class A motorhome.

Our Bus is in Quebec right now. We toured the factory for the second time this September and we know quite a few of the people in the video. Their quality is second to none. Every time I talk to anyone from the factory or the service center, I tell them how thankful we are we bought a Prevost. Many companies say quality is job one, but Prevost is one of the few companies that actually mean it.

I call bullshit, when i blew a 365 tag tire they were of no help!!! Call there hot line and said there’s nothing they could do. If you build these buses with 365 tires they should have some in stock around in case of an emergency
-
Sid, simply stated, that bites. I was to understand that in the case of emergency, 365’s could be found and shipped. Can you tell us more?
Also, considering your bus is new, could Marathon provide any assistance?
-
Sid: That is awfully disconcerting to hear. Especially on a coach as new as yours, I would have expected Prevost to fall all over themselves to help.
If I were you, I would call Prevost in Quebec and ask for Maurice Gagne’, Director Customer Support North America. Given what I saw in this Prevost produced video, Maurice’s Director position, and what Maurice said about quality customer support … he wants to hear about experiences like you had. He’s waiting for your call. If you have to leave a VM, I’d suggest including your VIN so he knows you’re driving a newer coach.
Let us know what the response is.

On another thread we pretty much savaged Michelin about this issue. Sid is absolutely correct however in pointing out none of us has the horsepower Prevost does when it comes to forcing Michelin to address this issue of lack of available replacement tires. NOBODY! Prevost had this tire designed for them. Prevost then foolishly entered into an agreement not to supply tires to anyone who needs a tire on the road.
At every opportunity we all need to take a few minutes to bitch and complain to Michelin and Prevost about the position it puts us in. Prevost will respond a tag 365 can be used on the steer axle and a 315 can be mounted on the 10 1/2″ wheel in an emergency but I’ll bet all of Tom’s dues money if you told Prevost you will pay their bill at your convenience when money becomes available, but in the meantime they can have a few old French Francs they would get upset.

Dick,
The cheese has finally got the best of you. Fat chance any call from Sid to Maurice about a tire problem would get any response beyond voicemail.
You’re in never never land if you need a 365 on the road boys.
-
Sid,
Please tell us more. What were the tire pressures in the tire that blew? Any particular reason for the blow-out; run over something in the road or….?
Also, I was told at Marathon they don’t weigh their coaches, have you had yours weighed?

This happen on my 2006 H not on my new bus. It happen when there was a detour and I had to make a sharp right turn and hit the curb with my tag i run 110 front 105 drives 100 tag. I did make a call to Prevost in Mira Loma and they brought it to the big wheels in Quebec. They said that what I went thru should of never happen. I did get an apology but that was about it. That little mishap cost me $2,5000 to get back rolling. $1,000 for the tire $1,000 for shipping and tow guy charged me $500 to change it because it was 10:00 P.M. I had to have it shipped from 350 miles. So they had me by the ____s. I didn’t think or even bother calling Marathon since we were In Kentucky south of Ohio. So next summer I am going to have a spare 365 in the back of my F150. I know what your think “stay off the curb” but when your towing and you get caught in a situation like I was in—what do you do. Lesson learned

I ran over a concrete anchor on the Ohio Tpk in my 2014 H blew the front tire.
Managed to get stopped on the shoulder and proceded to start the tire hunting process. After realising that my roadside ass—–tance were worthless, I called the Prevost service rep for that area. He ( Dennis Oner) was very helpful, said he would make a few calls and get back. He found a tire at a customer and had a tire service company call me to locate where we were to arrange an emergency service call. we were on the road again in less than 2 hours! Cost Tire $9500 service $ 2250 ( including tolls).
So… suggestion IHOP call the AREA Prevost service rep where you break down they are usually familiar with what is available in the local area.

Tom: Only cheap cheese “gets to you”. Those of us who know their cheese, eat the good stuff as you can see from below.
Sids event was probably too far back to call Maurice to discuss his experience. But I would encourage anyone who has a service quality problem with Prevost to keep Maurice Gagne’s name handy. I hope he’s waiting to take our calls.

Guys,
I believe we have a couple 365 take offs that I’d be glad to donate and leave at Hoffman Coach so that in an emergency situation Jeff could ship it overnight to whoever was in need.
I’m not sure of the dates but they might help in a jam.
If this makes sense to anyone let me know.
Thank you,
Chris
