Prevost Jacksonville – DD & Tranny Work
During a short visit to Prevost Jacksonville this week and talking to Kyle the Service Mamager I learned they will do any Detroit engine and tranny work you may need. They have 2 employee’s, Eric being one of them that came from Detroit Diesel. They also have a deal with a local transmission company that will come to Prevost and do the tranny work.
I thought it would be good for our members to know this as in the past I’ve heard Prevost will send you to Detroit or Allison and not do any work in house. So if you need your overhead run, as an example, consider going to Prevost Jacksonville.
Getting engine, tranny and chassis work all done at Prevost is a big plus in my opinion.

Thanks Tom,
That is exactly what they told me a couple years ago. The biggest problem is the coach would be sitting in the Detroit repair shops yard and their is no electric available. I also found that the coach could be there for days before they would work on it as it was a first come first serve. This is very good news…… Thanks for passing the info along.

We just had the top end done on our engine at Pittsburgh Power. We made an
appoint for 7:00 am on a Monday. We arrived on Sunday night and slept in their
parking lot. Coach was brought in at 7:00 am and finished the same day.
They also have a dump station on site. We stayed over another night so we
could go visit our daughter at PITT. Great people.

Thanks, that is good information to know about Jacksonville. I can tell you from my experience early this year, that Prevost Houston does not do internal work on Detroit engines.
It makes sense because Prevost has not equipped their buses with Detroit for nearly a decade. I would imagine keeping their guys up to speed on Volvo is challenging enough.
The company that Prevost Houston called in, Mid Coast Diesel, did a super job.
