Prevost – Goodlettsville
Posted by Marshall on May 14, 2020 at 9:31 amCall for help….
I dropped my coach off at Prevost – Nashville yesterday and was shocked at what I saw. The lot was overrun with Entertainer coaches and Seated coaches, just sitting there parked.
I spoke to my service advisor who told me business was WAY down with only the motorhome croud having any work done. His comment: “You motorhome guys are keeping us in business right now”.
He also mentioned they have laid off 25 or so techs and reduced shifts due to the lack of work.
I’m not suggesting you spend foolish money right now, but if you have any work planned, its worth a call to get it scheduled now. I called yesterday at noon for an appointment, and by 3:30, they were working on my coach.
Being a Nashville resident, I selfishly want them to survive.

Just saying Prevost has a lot more options then us small independent shops….This has and continues to effect everyone.

Whatever small business you need to use, please SUPPORT them as often as you can.

I will add that I was having some warranty work done, so needed to go to Prevost. The rest of my maintenance and work is either done be me or Jeff at ETLC. As a matter of fact, my coach is going to Jeff next week for some long overdue air bag replacement. I’m 4-5 years overdue!
We are fortunate to have Jeff supporting us and I’m equally lucky to have him so close.
Didn’t mean to imply Prevost was the best option for repairs……Sorry Jeff!

I’m having a terrible time with slide controllers. When I was in the process of buying the coach 6 months ago, both controllers had been damaged by a faulty voltage regulator. The controllers that were OEM to the conversion were “Gen 2” controllers. The previous owner ordered them to be replaced.
Apparently “Gen 2” controllers are no longer available (other than rebuilt) so my PO opted for the new (and improved) “Gen 3” controllers for both front and rear slides. In my 6 months of ownership, I’m on my second front slide controller and now 4th rear slide controller. The Prevost guys typically roll their eyes when they hear about issues with the “Gen 3” controllers which tells me there is a problem with the hardware.
Unfortunately, Prevost warranty on slide controllers only covers parts replacements and does not cover diagnosis and labor, so I’m stuck paying diag and install labor each time a controller fails. I will say, that the last time this happened, the service manager Goodwill’ed the labor, but this round looks like it’s on me again. $5950.
I have asked if Prevost can roll-back to the old Gen 2 controllers as I believe they are much more stable than the new version. Waiting to hear back from them with an answer.
One of the technicians told me they often have to send the “Gen 3” controllers out for repair, even when brand new and never installed.

Prevost provides a warranty on repairs and if a repair has failed they will stand behind it.

Jon,
If you have any pull or dirty pictures of the Prevost staff I can use for blackmail, then I’ll take all the help you can gather. I’m at my wits end……

I have zero influence with Prevost. It would be nice if did have some but as seated coaches became such a large part of their business motor homes just don’t make enough of their revenues to get their attention.

I was in Nashville yesterday (sans bus) but drove up to Goodlettesville just to see the sad state of the bus world. For those of you that have been there this description will make sense.
As I expected, the rental spaces to the right when you drive in were mostly full with entertainer buses stored in their paid spots. What I did not expect to see were two shell buses parked across the drive aisles in both the front and rear of the facility, completely blocking access to the southern portion of the facility, thus keeping anyone from using the spaces in what they call their campground. When I left the facility and headed south on I-65, I could see that there was one entertainer bus parked in these designated spaces. The rest were unused.
I’m sure there is a good reason for this and I have always experienced pretty good customer service here. Perhaps some of the smaller entertainer owners were squatting in these spots. But, if the motorhome customers are “keeping the Prevost service centers alive” during this time period, that is not exactly a welcoming gesture.

When I was there a few weeks ago, one of the service guys in Goodlettsville told me they have already let 25 people go, and probably looking at more.

UPDATE:
Just received my invoice from Prevost – Goodlettsville and they warrantied the labor for this most recent slide controller replacement. Very happy camper right now……hope the controller continues to work.
