Prevost Elgin, IL air bag part#s & $$$
In the past there’s been some controversy over the correct parts for air bags
I called Prevost Elgin today and got part#s and prices for our bus.
Steer: #630260 – $197ea
Drive: #630104 – $172ea
Tag: #630259 – $163ea
Is this what ya’ll show?

I can wait, but till when? Anybody know? I haven’t found prices anywhere near what I previously posted.

I think the steer is 630259 if u use 630260 it will not raise or go past road height check those part numbers but I am pretty sure that’s right I had a coach same year and it had 630260 on front and would not go past road height after some digging found out it takes the 630259 with the May west pedestals and it will go right up past road height

Peter, I called Prevost Elgin again and had them double check the steer air bag #. They again said 630260. They’ll sell me any thing I want, but their books call for the 630260. Originally, Prevost books called for 630105 on the steer, I suppose that’s whats on the frt of my bus now. At some point in time it was superceded by the current 630260. Is this new# a Mae West type(like currently on my tag)? I’ll know when I get them! Will it work well on my particular bus? I’ll know after I put them on.
I know currently my bus doesn’t have Mae West type bags on the front and it will raise above normal ride height. Maybe because its lighter than most, weighing only 13,120# on the front?

Ok, dug out my paperwork. On my vintage, steer and tag take 630259 $109.00, need four. Drive takes 630104, $119.00, need four. Got these from Prevost Parts on sale in March 2011.

259’s are what we were told in 2010 were May West for raising the front. The 260’s the bus had didn’t raise much over ride height and previous Beaver Prevost front axle was not quite 14,00bs.

OK, I got out my Goodyear air bag catalog and here is what I found.
The 630260(1R11-243) that they call for and are shipping me today are non Mae West bags. They are like what is currently on my bus.
The 630259(1R11-244) is a Mae West that has has the same collapsed height, but almost 4″ more inches of extended height. These are $34 less each
Decisions? Decisions?

Ok, you convinced me to go with the 630259(1R11-244) Mae West shape for the steer. So I called Kathy in Elgin and made the change. The cheaper $ helped convince me too 🙂

Does Your Coach have the Front Air Baffles ? I find that using My Baffles on 2 lane back roads helps a lot with the Roll and or porpoising . And turn them off on a Good super Slab gives Me that floating Cushy Ride. Your Koni Shocks look Great ! -
