How can you tell apart aftermarket slides from original Prevost slides?

Up to about the 2007 or 2008 model year (maybe a 2006 chassis) Prevost slides had 3 locking pins on each side on the front slide. They were a large diameter. The slide room had a rack top and bottom on each side for the gear that drove the slide in and out. I don’t know if that sets them apart from others, but I use those as clues. Later model Prevost slides were called “pinless” and they did not have the side locking pins.

Inside the Prevost slide “rode” above the floor so there was a step up into the dinette. Other aftermarket slides had floors flush with the Prevost floor.

I guess you would have to see several with Prevost slides and then on those with non-Prevost slides there would be differences. There were several manufacturers of aftermarket slides, all different.

The H3-45s had NO Prevost slides until 2003 or 2005… many of the early H slides were from HWH.. we had a 1998 Vantare with 2 slides made by HWH. I think there was another brand also in the early 2000s.

It’s very easy to see a big difference in the early H slides as many of them have exposed mechanisms…. don’t let that be a deal breaker for you however as many folks prefer the slides that don’t have the expensive air seals.. the HWH are very servicable and have ordinary easy to replace D type seals.

    Cheers, Diane
