powering down a coach
Hi all, can anyone tell me what the proper procedure would be to power down and take off line a 1996 liberty. I have looked in my owners manual but found no information except that it refers to the inverter switches and breakers by the house batteries should only be turned off as a last resort, I don’t want to do anything to damage the inverters. This is not a need right now issue but would like to add it to my manual for future use.

I would suggest you verify that his procedure corresponds with his. There might be a label in the electric compartment or near the Watchdog. Different vintages of coach may have different procedures.

Probably a difference also if your coach has Allen Bradley system (elegant vs classic?)

Thanks for the post I will check it out, she is coach 312 classic libertyand Jon I have read some of your post about being very careful when working on the Electrical systems on in these coaches and I agree that the more information one has the better, if not for the voltage they carry but the sensitive electronics.

Darrell, Joel was right in his advice regarding the Classic vs the Elegant Lady which is why I suggested you verify that you and Dan have the same model or vintage.
Shut down on a Classic I think is very simple. Before any Liberty shutdown disconnect the Watchdog. I did that on my coaches by removing the ribbon cable.
Shut down all incoming shore power.
Turn off switches for battery #1 & 2 in the electric box. Turn off the battery switches.
The house and chassis are not joined electrically so don’t worry about shutting both off at the same time unless you are more comfortable doing that.
