Power steering question
Have 06 H3 chassis, just today, after we stopped for an hour or so, got back in bus and noticed power steering seemed to be harder to steer to the right than the left and then it cleared up and then did it again…any thoughts?

Check fluid level?

Agree with Art. Start by checking power steering fluid level.
If power steering service has not been done in last few years, would also change fluid and filter.
Easy way to do so after driving and warming up the fluid…is to use vacuum pump to suction out the warm fluid, change the filter and re-fill with the reservoir lid off. Capacity is about 1 gallon of Dexron III equivalent.
When I have done this in the past, after my next drive, I will vacuum all fluid out again and simply refill. I did this three times.

Also, visually inspect your steering assist cylinder for seal failure / leakage.

Also, check the power steering filter in the fluid reservoir. Who knew one even existed?

There is a electrical control circuit also. Switches the steering box & slave from a low speed hi assist mode to a highway mode..there are electric wires hooked to that ZF steering box . There also is ZF control module little bigger than the common relays . Drivers elec. access front of the busy elec. area on the shelf . It has ZF logo on it.
