Power Steering issue
Just picked up our coach in Texas after having Brent Ekberg install new floors. He did a wonderful job and floors look great.
When leaving Brents I noticed the power steering was almost non existent. Very hard to steer at low speeds and very jerky. I checked the reservoir level and brought it to the full mark. I also noticed a small leak at the pump which i will fix when I return home.
Is it possible the filter could cause this? If not, any other suggestions.

there are 3 lines on pump 1 from res(supply) and 2 to front steering box. The larger line from the res is supply and non pressure. The two lines to the front are pressure aprox 2000psi. They are 2 piece lines with a bulkhead connector at rear bulkhead. common for the supply hose to leak.

On my last trip I discovered a leak on the supply hose at the pump. Turned out to be a loose hose clamp as there is no pressure other than gravity.
Hopefully yours will be as simple as tightening the clamp.

Coming from the Bluebird world, supply side PS hose replacement is a common 20 year maintenance item. And it’s a PIA job to do. That said, I was having a Prevost (XL) inspected recently and the inspector (well known in this crowd) said he hardly ever hears about PS hose issues?
Not sure if he meant replacing them is a non-issue or they never need replacing.
Anyway, thought that was a little odd.

PS issue solved. Turns out the new flooring was rubbing against the u-joint at the base of the steering column. Five minute Dremel fix.

Glad you found it. I had to replace my PS pump in an Angel Fire NM campground in 2019. That was a special experience.

As an added note to the flooring being the issue, if you use the tilt part option with your steering wheel there needs to be clearance for that at the floor as well. The tilt, tilts all the way down to floor level. That may or may not be true of all XL’s but I believe so.
