  • Power Door Lock

Posted by Rod on August 31, 2014 at 1:26 pm

Our power entry door lock has stopped working. I know it’s not the first time you have heard that so, any ideas on fixing it without tearing too far into it?

The button lights up when you push it. not sure if it’s just the actuator. The key pad still locks the bay doors.

    Thanks!

I think step one has to be to open up the door and see if the power lock actuator is getting power when you lock it. I think you can rule out the “brain” being bad since the bays lock.

Removing the door panel on your coach is fairly simple, especially to folks with your skills.

It is possible that the wires are getting pinched in the hinge area. It happened to me. For that you only need to remove the upper hinge trim on the bus side. You should see the wires coming from the door through the hinge. Simple repair, just make sure you tie them out of range of full hinge movement but still allow them to move without bending.

    You are both right!

It was an easy fix and it was just one wire.

I took off the top hinge and found that it had been fixed previously by adding a butt connector. The connector had come apart so I soldered the connection.

    Thanks guys!

I think that might be the first question we have answered correctly all year. Amazing.
