Porch/entry light???
Posted by Tom on October 28, 2015 at 12:37 pmAnyone done anything to change this small porch/entry light to something bigger? This one cast a bit of dim light right at the door and that’s all. I’d like to have something that would light a larger area.

The photo is not coming through. However, I may have addressed the same issue. Our 2006 Prevost XLII has the small dowlight at the entryway. The light used was originally designed as a Ford truck bed light. I removed the incandessant build and secured an LED light panel inside the lense of the original light. I then connected the 12 volt leads from the panel to the power cables for the original light and the result is a very bright, white light within the original housing.

Hey BTom,
That light is a cargo light from a Chevy/GMC 1988-1993 truck. The LMC Truck part# is 37-4324. The new lens is much clearer than the ones that have been on my bus for 14 years… I have also seen the LED bulbs put in these new lens and they are pretty bright..

PERKO Horizontal Mount Stern Light, 2-3/8″ Outside Diameter x 1-5/8″H
Ichanged out the bulb to LED. Perko was the original light, screw holes line up.

Thanks, Guys…
Yes, that is what it looks like. I think I will take it off and go with the idea of a brighter LED replacement…that sounds like the most conservative plan. I didn’t really like the idea of some huge big fixture hanging there…but I did want more light.
I give that a whirl!!!ty
