Don’t know the answer, but be careful. You do not want the floors too slippery because walking around in a moving coach is hard enough without the added problem of a slippery floor.

Our first sailboat was a Nauticat 36, a Finnish built motorsailer. This vessel comes with a raised pilothouse and has sliding doors on the port and starboard sides. The insides of Nauticat are finely finished in natural teak. The floors are teak and holly. On one particular day, I decided to clean and oil the floors. Looked great and shiny when I was done.

The same day, we went out for a sail. The winds were blowing +15 knots, just right for a motorsailer. We were also healing strongly because I sailed her hard on the wind.

Well, we were sitting in the cockpit and my wife decided to go into the pilothouse to get something. She entered on the high side (obviously) and as soon as she stepped down on the floor, she slid across the floor towards the opposite pilothouse door. She as able to grab a hold of someting just inches short of going over board.

She could have gone overboard very easily and almost did. Since then, I do no longer polish the floor.

But I also keep reminding my wife that she is well insured … (…gasp…)

    Cheers,

    Ronald

Most people think it’s easier horizontally. Geo.

Poor Trish, not only don’t you have the geometry correct, but now you don’t want to touch it. Glad the stuff worked. now if you left the floor a little wet and she walked backwards in front of y…..oh never mind. Geo.
