  • PM Service in Alaska

Its time for oil change and chassis lube.

Prevost doesn’t have anyone Certified in the entire state of Alaska…

Pacific Power has a location in Anchorage and that is who Marathon suggests in Coburg…. So I was leaning towards them.

Anyone have any experience with them or other suggestions?

Peter I am kicking myself for not having it done early in Kamloops or at your shop in Banff… but my head was all wrapped up in the check engine stuff that I just forgot I was getting close to needing service…

I used them. They do okay work. Don’t expect a really clean place. They work on dirty trucks, generators, and heavy equipment. I gave them the graphic for grease fitting locations so they could do the chassis.

You can wait until you get back south, especially if you are taking the ferry.

I agree, you can probably wait. Modern lubricants are really good!

    Bill,

I agree…let it go till you get back. With your continuous driving verses stop and start the oil is probably in pretty good shape.

    Bill,

You might be OK but how many miles between service intervals are you talking about? I actually would be less concerned about an oil change than I would about the lube which Prevost calls for at 6200 mile intervals and the opportunity for someone to at least get under it to check for the condition of everything including hub seal leaks, other leaks, drain the air tanks, look at shock and sway bar bushings, etc.

Our buses are pretty robust, will take some abuse, but they do need some attention.
