Pictorial directory
I had an idea as I drove down I-75 and saw a bus going the other way, wondering who it was….
How about a page on here where you can display everyone’s bus in a grid, associated with a name and handle? Divide by H’s and XL’s, also by decade, and then let people scan through to see who may have been around them that day!

Will PC be providing some Models or Hooters Girls to pose with the bus when we take the pics.
Maybe we could all meet in one place to do the photo shoot so the girls would not have to travel so far :-))
Second thought, maybe I could haul them around to every members bus location and I could turn in all my travel vouchers to Jon or Tom. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

While I think it is a neat idea I decided to test the theory. I found unless a coach has a really unique paint scheme or color selection to my eyes I cannot differentiate coaches.
In case you think I am blowing the idea off, do this. Go to a site where there is a the same view of a number of coaches. I used one of our advertiser’s sites. The coaches were all defined by model (XLII, H2, etc.) and were shown as a specific model year. So I printed them out, cut out the photos which were now all the same size and after studying the site until I thought I could sort them by model year I tried to do that. On the ones whose colors or pattern had a very unique appearance I could get close, but I bombed out on the rest.
I have seen all of the coaches owned by the folks that posted on this thread. I couldn’t tell you what any of them looked like, including the base colors. That is not to say I cannot recognize coaches. Ray Davis had a monotone red Country Coach that would stand out in a crowd. It was one of a kind. I would recognize Jim C’s Liberty, and a green twin to it that Treedoc (Rick) has. But as I look at other coaches at a rally, after a while, unless I am really studying hard they all begin to look alike only being different from one another as the designs from a certain vintage and the color of the same vintage change.
If you still agree it would not be difficult for us to create another topic on the forum where those that wanted to could post their coach photo, and maybe add some additional information and then anyone that chose to create a pictoral directly could print each post as a separate page to keep in their coach. But believe me, I nearly went crosseyed with about 20 photos and they all took on a simlar appearance after a while. I think trying to page through 50 or more would be very difficult. Of course my advancing age may be influencing my cognitive skills.
A lot of folks who own a Prevost do not want a lot of their information out in the general public. Since we are open to anyone for viewing it may prove difficult to get a high percentage of our members to participate although it would be fun to see how the idea works in real life.

Send me the vouchers Charles and take the girls to see Di. I don’t think there would be much interest since we are a public site. If it was done on a private site, it would be a good idea. Keep the ideas coming Bonz.

Did not think of the privacy aspect of puttin pics associated with members names. Something to consider as Jon mentioned. Enjoy the site very much. Thanks for ya’lls efforts.

I like all the ideas but I’am going with Charles and the Hooter girls. I’ll run it by Mary Ellen maybe she will have something to say on the subject….maybe not a good idea..
How about…change the monthly drawing to $100 bucks at Hooters ?

How about this then: Pictures with an installed GPS tracking device leading to an actively updated Google Map ! Of course, all chicken wing restaurants will also be shown for general interest!

My memory isn’t what it used to be (see my posts above) but if I recall JDUB had a way where we could track his travels. I not only have a bad memory, but all these newfangled electronic devices and what they can do is way beyond my pay scale, but it was a neat way to track his travels and when he posted we could relate that to where he was.
Or maybe it was someone else……….I can’t remember.
The point is that someone more in tune with the capabilites electronic devices have might be able to recommend how people that don’t mind having their travels monitored can enable some way of tracking their travels in real time.
Keep in mind however I am talking about someone who hasn’t figured out how to make his i-pad work as it should posting on this site, while old slow grumpy Tom can have posts made from his Direct TV remote control

I was serious about tracking JDUB. We really had that ability. I can’t tell if people are joking about what their various devices can do. After all who would have thought the old party line rotary dial cell phone would morph into a phone that surfs the net, functions as a GPS, takes pictures, pays bills via credit card, answers the phone, functions as an alarm clock or timer, a calculator, can turn on the bus air conditioning remotely, and can turn off red light cameras (alright I am kidding about the red light cameras) so if you told me you can post on the forum via your oven timer who am I to question it. BTW I know people no longer have ovens. All cuisine is now prepared in a microwave.

It’s very simple to do this now, without any complicated extra hardware. Jerry had a wireless router that had the capability of updating a file on a website, which we tracked with Google Maps.Google now has an online app called “Latitude”, and you simply need to download the app to most any smart phone, and tell it to post your location.
I used this last summer when I did the Race Across America. I put a link on Kathy’s computer, which went directly to the Latitude map, and showed my current location, and I never had to do anything.
There are privacy controls, and you can invite who you want to be able to see your location. My son in the Army invited me to be in his viewing group once, but I think he finally figured out that let me know where he was all the time. He turned it off about 3 weeks later!

Good stuff Ray, hadn’t even heard of that one. I think I’ll try it out this summer and the grandkids can have fun with that.
