PC Fuel Discount Program
If you haven’t yet signed up for the program, do it now.
At the same time you can apply for the Michelin tire discount program.
So far the fuel discount program has been overwhelmingly approved by those who use. All Love’s offer a 10 cent discount, some other truck stops offer 5 cent discounts and the balance of the 5000 truck stops don’t offer a discount, but you still get to swipe the card, fuel, and go without ever leaving your coach to go inside the truck stop.
On occasion we hear from a member that can beat the discounts using local diesel outlets or using credit cards that offer discounts on purchases. We are not suggesting once you get the cards you pass up opportunities to save money, but to recognize for folks traveling away from home and who intend to fuel near the interstates it is hard to beat the program.
I am like everyone else in that if I can get cheap fuel I’m going to. But like most others I have found most cheap fuel is distant from the interstate and the cost to drive any distance away from my route often exceeds the financial advantage. I have also managed to wedge the coach into supermarket gas stations and spent far too much time trying to get 100 plus gallons from the tiny hose into my fuel tank. I have found if I try to use my credit card to get the discount my card offers I am limited to $75 or $100 of fuel at a time so while those opportunities are sometimes advantageous, for the most part I am using the Love’s and enjoying the 10 cent discount. Whether you prefer to seek local sources or interstate truck stops I encourage you to get the cards because there are times all of us just want to fuel and go.
Why would I try to promote the use of fuel discount cards? It is all about numbers. All of the discount programs we offer were made possible because of numbers. The more of us using the discount programs and the more we buy using the cards, whether it is the NAPA card or the fuel card, the more similar programs we can obtain and the better our opportunity to continue to negotiate better deals for all of us.
So make a resolution for 2014 to get and take advantage of the discount programs we offer. They are for your benefit as Prevost enthusiasts and the more activity the better for all.

Gil and I kind of just had that conversation on Facebook about local stations and the opportunity to save more than the PC program. I completely agree with his comments about a local trusted station and if I had one close to home, I would use it also. We used to have one, but it closed years ago and the good ole days gone.
So for me, the PC fuel program has exceeded my expectations and the convenience of swiping the card, fueling and driving away with no fuel desk trips is worth it’s weight in gold.
Sign up and use it when away from home, it ultimately helps us all through volume.

used it today, 192 gallons, would have been 212 but had to buy 100 bucks worth to get me to the next Love’s.

Plus, the fuel is much cleaner at Love’s, Or other large truck stops, due to the volume of fuel they sell.

Count us as big fans of the fuel program as well. We haven’t fueled anywhere except for Love’s since we got the card. However there isn’t a Loves on our route tomorrow and I can’t find the email or paper wirth the link to the NON loves locations… can someone email it me if you have it handy. Bill@fogartyservices.com

I used my fuel discount card in Indiana today. The pump asked for my DOT #, and after trying a few ways to get around it, I succumbed to going inside and discussing the issue with the attendant. We were finally able to make it work by entering the first 6 numbers of the account # shown on the front of the card as the DOT number, and then the usual 4 digit truck and unit numbers. It gave me cash price, no 10 cent discount.
Loves in Indiana only recently started accepting our fuel discount card. It apparently is not without hiccups and those traveling through may want to remember this. Perhaps Alicia can respond.

Alicia and I talked about the situation in Indiana and Oregon about the fuel cards. She is out of the office until next week but she was going to make a post explaining the situation in detail and I believe those two states were going to be excluded. I will await her post on this.
The problem is how to satisfy the tax collector and I think Profit Tools ends up with the burden. I’m not sure so Alicia’s explaination should clear up what is going on.
Speaking personally, as a former resident of NY state I couldn’t justify the high fuel costs so part of every trip plan was consideration regarding where to buy fuel, either when departing on a trip or returning. My point was that with just a little planning I not only wasn’t inconvenienced by having to buy fuel out of state, I actually saved a lot of money over the years by never buying fuel there. It was like the state had no truck stops. That’s a parallel to what might have to happen in IN and OR.

I’m a converted beliver. I live in a honey hole for fuel prices, low state taxes $0.165 per gal and low transport cost since it comes in by pipeline. I have often been on the side of lower local prices. Leave with a full tank, return empty buy from Loves on the road. Jon and I had that conversation in Branson.
When we left for key west 2 weeks ago, the best local (<5 miles for the barn) price was $3.689. I checked the Loves prices on my route and had enough fuel to get to Brunswick, Ga where the price was $3.819 or $3.719 with the discount. So rather than go local I opted for the $03 difference. Saved a ton of time on the way out of town and the local fuel would have cost me 10 miles since I would have to go north to go south. That would have more than eaten the $03 savings.
To avoid the high Fl, cost of fuel I only splashed 60 gallons in Ft. Pierce to get back to Brunswick where the price had fallen to $3.639 with the discount.

I stand corrected. I received my receipt from Profit Tools and it indicates the 10 cent discount. So the card DOES work in Indiana. You just need to enter a DOT # as I described above.

On the move today took on fuel in Benson, AZ. I-10 south of Tucson. Pulled into Loves waiting about 5 minutes for my turn at the pump.
Left the drivers seat headed to the pump with my fuel card in hand. Doing the card filling with 138 gallons the total time was 21 minutes. Fuel price $3.72 less 10 cents with PC program.
Sure beats the old days of 45 to 60 minutes at the pump.

Always use it when on the go. Fueled Sunday in Mississippi……..138 gal in 10 min or so….swipe & go….love it. Getting ready to use the Michelin deal instead of FMCA. Thanks guys!
