A number of our members are also members of another Prevost site and participate on that forum. One of the current topics is “Passwords”.

If you are on PC and you are reading this post you used a password to get access to the post and your password gives you access to the discount programs, the search function, and allows you to post and respond to threads. Pretty common stuff.

The expressed concern was with password security (which obviously is non-existant because I get on daily to read their threads) and PC was dragged through the mud because the fact we don’t have White House level password security. It is being used to scare our members who read that other site’s forum.

Let’s share some facts. There are only three people who have ever seen our member list and had access to passwords. Tom, our web guru Joe, and me. A whole lot of you know we have to have access to your passwords because from time to time a member’s password won’t work or has been forgotten. Tom and I are sending passwords out daily. When we experience a serious password problem that Tom and I cannot resolve, we get Joe involved and obviously he needs the password information because he has to see if it is something wrong with the site or just that member’s password. So everyone can rest assured that your password is safe. We do not have private messaging or available member lists also to protect the identity and security of members.

Keep in mind we also do not have any sensitive information nor do we ask for private information. We don’t have SS numbers, phone numbers, nor do we ask where you were born or your mother’s maiden name. So even if every one had access to passwords there is no information to be gleaned with the exception of your email address. And some of you enable the use of an email address. As far as we are concerned we are OK if you use a bogus email address only used for this site. We have people whose public persona needs to be kept priivate so we set this site up so you can register using 100% bogus information and using an email address that is exclusive to PC. In short don’t worry about the security of our passwords.

On the other hand we are really curious to see how long the folks at the other site allow their newest member to try to atttack PC. The reason for our curiousity is because that member is now “inside” the other site with 100% access to the personal information of its members, email addresses, PMs, and he is slowly harvesting new members for his brand new Prevost site from their base of members. He talks about PC while methodically and quitely welcoming new members to his site from that site. Too much drama. We just hope his efforts don’t backfire.

There is a new, third Prevost site? Why?

I can’t keep up with the posts to PC and POG the way it is. I have a full time job, I race for a hobby, and I have my bus to babysit.

Why a third Prevost site? Or do I have something wrong?

with the annual fee associated with PC and the content why would you go elsewhere.

I like looking at the different sales information on other sites, but trying to keep up with the knowledge shared here it is tough enough to keep up with.

The POG January show is definitely something that a prospective newbie should experience, you get to see a lot of coaches, dealers, and meet a lot of experienced people with different prospectives in one place. Not to mention if your from the north you get a few warm days.

    Just
consider the source of this password scare and you’ll just shake your
head and mutter something like, “you gotta be shitting me.”
POG has a new disease, we had it also, but found the cure and they
will too. Watch your backs boy’s, that snake will bite ya….

    PC
password problems, no way. Ask yourself these questions:

    1.
Do we have your SS number

    2.
    Do we have your birthdate

    3.
Do we have your credit card number

    4.
Do we have your mother’s maiden name

    5.
Do we have your favorite phrase

    6.
Do we have your phone number

    7.
Do we have your pet’s name

    8.
Do we have your bank account information

    The
answer to all of those is hell no
. So if some cyber weenie steals
your PC password, what’s he get? He gets to login to PC, make an ass
of himself and get deleted. There’s nothing to steel folks…

    And
further more, Jon, myself and our Web Developer have access to your
password because we’re the ones that gave it to you… Sheeeesh

    Rant
    over….

I can read between the lines here and tell you the same guy tried to destroy the Bluebird sight a few years ago and failed, only made it stronger. I think the Newell site had the same thing happen. I did a little research and the Prevost sites will get the same treatment next.

This is a great site guys, keep up the good work.

Unless you change it, the pw is just a randomally generated one…I don’t even know it, its saved in Firefox.

Passwords for the initial access and later access if left unchanged are randomly generated and as a member you can keep it or go into your profile and change it to anything you like.

We do see all passwords, but as Tom says we are the ones that send them to you initially anyway. The only piece of information we need from members is an email address because that is how we communicate with you such as when you forgot your password. Bottom line, don’t worry.

I am not worried, you guys seem to police this site very well, and at the same time let comments go back and fourth at an extremely reasonable level that most cannot experience elsewhere. That being said, I think forum has developed a fantastic group of members who for the most part are in it totally for the benfit of its members. When members surface to be in it for other reasons it seems to be followed up and addressed.

Kepp up the great work, Site Operators and Members.
