Hi Dick,
I also have a passenger seat where the foot rest needs help going out or in. Once deployed it stays there but exhibits a grinding noise like a broken gear or a mechanism slipping when going out or in on its own. I would like to buy the parts necessary to repair it if possible. Please call me at 541 four nine nine 1027 or email glwork at Mac dot com. Thanks.

It’s likely Villa and some of the transmissions, motors and screw rods are getting hard to find. Villa International

I had same problem. Grease in/on what Villa calls the “transmission” getgets dry and hard. Villa has redesigned the mechanicals.
Step 1: apply WD40 or similar to soften the old grease
Step 2: remove transmission, disassemble, clean, regrease, assemble and reinstall. If you also remove the motor, you can bench test the uunit before reinstalling.
Step 3: still inop? Call Villa. They will build a replacement with a new threaded rod to fix your seat. Cost about $75, Two week turnaround.
