Parked inside Marathon factory
At one corner of the Marathon factory was a red XL with a double slide. Seeing the logo on the side caught my interest and Jim Cogley invited me inside to look at a bit of history.
2000 Marathon XL 2/s custom build. Family has put the bus and trailer up for sale , it’s under contract.
There are no sleeping accommodations as the rear is conference layout. What really caught my attention was the side entry stair well which I noticed while inside the bus.
Always spotted by a driver team at racing events but no longer used was reason for sale.

That is a big piece of history. I remember seeing a large spread on that coach quite a while ago.
For the youngsters on this site the Newman is not Ryan Newman who did drive for Stewart Haas, but Paul Newman the actor and race car driver.

I’m not at the liberty to say but the one thing I do know is that Big Al will be back camping in the the desert this winter!!! I think he’s parking in space H That’s all I’m saying but I know more info for a $$$ for fuel and I’ll spill my guts

Hmmm, I wonder what the “H” is happening with Al and Mary Ellen? They haven’t asked to rent their old XLII for the OKC no-rally rally……..
