So Tom here is the hard question, have you heard who is or is not planning on trying to still go.

Check points established on the Alabama / Florida State line on I-10. Gov.DeSantis trying to limit the importation of the virus from Louisiana. No one is being turned away at this time, but required to fill out travel form and required to self quarantine for 14 days.
Also see where as of 3-29-2020 Alabama has 720 cases of COVID-19 out of 4,755 tested with 10 cases in Baldwin County.

Tom, we will be cancelling. We are still 20+ days out and it looks like the Mayor is shutting stuff down. A large part of the fun is going out and eating the fresh sea food with a group, but it looks like a no-go at this time. Jon is going just to load his freezer with sea food, so maybe we can hi-jack him on his way home, empty his freezer and have a “boil” party at Jeff’s.

I was reading yesterday the value of keeping campgrounds open on a FMCA letter. They say we should contact our state reps and let them know . The FMCA is lobbying for them to remain open as essential .
With over 1m full timers and countless snow birds I think I agree that campgrounds are essential . Just sharing the information .

I agree with that. Just read that state of Washington has declared POT stores are essential businesses. Shouldn’t RV parks be just as important.
we are thinking of heading home next week although we don’t normally require a park for our short 3 day trip if things get nasty at truck stops we may be forced to look for a park. Our route Has very few rest stops suitable.
Truckers are complaining of people in cars wiping out the inventory of the stores at the truck stop. And I am wondering what the truckers feelings toward a “rich guy” in a 45′ plus tow ( sarcasm) taking up a spot for them to rest.

With all that is going on we have decided to sit tight for now here at ORI in Indio. They have shut down all activities along with the pools but we do still have some freedoms in the park , like a 5pm daily Golf cart parade with proper spacing of course 🙂

We are like you Al, staying put here in Yuma, for now, BUT it’s going to get HOT here soon.
I hate to be paranoid but the idea of heading North at the beginning of April is
not something I’m looking forward to with the usual mass exodus out of the Desert.

I got this text from a friend today, thought a laugh might help…
Isolation.
We are only a week into self isolation and it is really upsetting me to witness my wife standing at the living room window gazing aimlessly into space with tears running down her cheeks! It breaks my heart to see her like this!
I have thought very hard of how I can cheer her up.
I have even considered letting her come in but rules are rules! -
Well Gail and I will be staying home here in Arlington. All of the DFW area is in Shelter in place rules, and just tonight the Governor announced that any vehicles coming out of Louisiana will be stopped and not allowed in, and if you do come into the State you will be put into a 14 day quarantine. So since we would travel both directions through Louisiana we are out this year.

Karen & I have decided to cancel as well and stay put in AZ for at least the month of April for many of the reasons mentioned earlier. Things will be getting warm, but the really hot temps normally don’t start here until late May/early June. Hopefully, things will be settled out enough by then to head East/North, but if necessary we can stay put here as long as we need.

Looking to the future we have a long road ahead of us. I feel this isn’t going to be a temporary setback. That’s why when we left ORI Indio on the 18th, we prepped the place for our extended absence. We will try return 10/2021 if possible. Much economic strife will have past possibly making it impossible for us to use our busses safely on the roads
I hate to ge a “debbie-downer”, but we need wake up. You must according to my icu nurse contact your stste reps and senators to demand the president issue to executive order to nationalize our emergency and bring our assets to help our hospitals. Remember, if the doctors and Nurse die, we all die. Dont be fooled, this is going to be with us for a long time.

I threw in the towel today and canceled our reservations at Orange beach.
While this thing is turning down, and I’m not nearly as pessimistic as many, it is not turning fast enough. SC got our stay at home order today at 5:00, Al and Ga have been there.
So while I’d rather be eating and dancing with you lovely bunch of nuts, I’ll sit outside at home next week.
Here’s to better days and frequent travel.
