Well there you have it, I hadn’t quite had the time to go back through 40+ posts to look for the number 38 that Jon had mentioned on March 13th, I’m so sorry, I’ll do my best to improve my attention to detail in the future.

Well, in defense of the original concern:
Jon said “there is a listing in the rally section,…”
Which is not really there, and it is not on the calendar.
This does serve as a reminder for me to make reservations. Guess I’ll dig thru the 40 threads to see if the phone number is up there.
While I appreciate you guys not making the sign-up button active and collecting money months in advance, a little information on the calendar would be useful.

Would consider marketing this event.
I would need a lot of info on what happens there and stays there.
I am a newbe and interested but need to have incentive to drive 600 miles to be a part of the rally. I understand it is a history event but I don’t have the history book with this event.
I am not trying to be critical just trying to get info on what looks like a rally competing with other events that may be worthwhile to attend.

George, Perhaps a brief explanation is in order. The event started by accident when three coaches heading to a rally in TX met at Mobile to overnight before caravanning to TX for the intended rally. Because a lot of oysters were consumed that evening it was posted on a POG forum that it would be fun for coach owners to meet again in Mobile for the purpose of eating even more oysters.
It grew as a rally that wasn’t a rally. In other words, no agenda, no one responsible, no purpose other than for coach owners to meet at an RV park on a certain couple of days just to enjoy each other’s company and to eat a lot of cheap oysters.
It grew into an annual event and at some point PC picked up the tab for a pizza night, a really nice catered meal, we handed out a goody bag, and had some technical sessions one of the mornings. PC collects some money from members to help pay for the costs. Some of the PC advertisers also contribute so the pizza and catered meals are provided, but the Oysterfest annual event is still a rally without a real agenda. Tom and I have been trying to back away from rallies and rally management, but we like attending.
However, it has a real value. Its greatest value is a bunch of us who are PC members come from all over to enjoy one another’s company. It is common to see a bunch of lawn chairs all together and each of us bragging about our good looks and telling other lies. But we are also wandering around poking our noses in other coach engine compartments answering questions, giving advice and (gasp) sometimes even fixing stuff that is broke.
We are blessed to have some really smart members like Rudy who is an Aquahot expert helping people and sharing his knowledge. Jeff from ETLC is running around like his hair is on fire helping folks with problems. Tom of course is trying to sell batteries and TPMS from Pressure Pro. Apart from the above technical stuff this event is like an in person forum with the same conversations and advice, except we are all together in one spot and sometimes meeting people face to face for the first time.
What needs to be understood is what PC is. We are not a club or special interest group. We view ourselves as the single meeting place for all Prevost conversion owners and enthusiasts for the purpose of accomplishing things a less populated group cannot do. As examples our fuel programs, tire discounts, NAPA discounts, etc likely would have never come about if it has not been our strength in numbers (now about 4350 members) and it is not our intention to do rallies that compete with all the Prevost special interest groups and clubs who use them as revenue sources. Oysterfest might be the exception because of its long history but if it is promoted heavily and the number of attendees gets cumbersome Tom and I cannot handle it without help.

The great thing about Oyster Fest is that the feast part of the fest is well liked. There are options other than oysters and I personally like those folks that chose the other items on the buffet, leaving more oysters for me !!!
The 2019 Oyster Fest was our first and we are putting the 2020 gathering on our calendar for sure.

FYI, there is an overlap with the Prevost Prouds rally at Anchor Down, I believe.

I’m one of those that Les is talking about, no snot balls for me, shrimp and chicken. After last year watching Les woof down those little buggers I was concerned about the 2020 catering, so I told the caterer he wasn’t coming next year.

To establish a date for Oysterfest, every year we have to juggle available dates at the RV park, we have to work around Easter, and there are some times we end up with a conflict with other groups or clubs.
With so many special interest Prevost groups it is very difficult to not occasionally conflict with one, especially when we establish the Oysterfest date the other rally is unknown to us.

I thought it was always April 16th through 20 th ?

It is whenever the RV park has open time and is not hosting another rally and modified if necessary due to Easter dates.
