Ronald,
Your sentiment is understandable. But keep in mind we are all different and what works for one, may not work for another.
To me my bus is my living room. The minute I sit in the driver’s seat I am on vacation. But I am also relaxing in a comfortable easy chair. At my speed the world is passing me by, I rarely feel stressed because I am not in a hurry, and everything about the drive is entertainment.
Having said that however, I have driven 1200 miles non-stop twice. Those were long days but I felt good the whole time. On the other hand I have had several trips where I never got 100 miles. After starting out I realized I just did not feel like driving so we stopped. I spent the rest of the day riding my bike around the RV park or grilling dinner.
A current normal day of driving ranges from 500 miles to 650 miles at a driving speed of about 61 to 62 MPH. With stops every 3 hours or so, a lunch stop, and a little time on the computer it takes me about 12 hours to do the 650 miles, but I don’t see it as a problem. But keep in mind, I am not pushing. I stay back from vehicles ahead of me, I drive slow, and there is very little stress. If on the other hand I was to drive the same 12 hours at 70 or above I would be mentally worn out when I shut down for the evening.
BTW, the way my body clock works, I am an early bird and will not hesitate to leave early in the morning, even in the dark. But I almost never drive past 5 or 6 PM because by that point my body is telling me it is time to stop. When I was flying it was exactly the same because my brain is not as sharp after 5 or 6.

I routinely drive 600-800 mile days. It is not a problem if you plan for it. We would never get anywhere if we shut down at 6 to 8 hours. That is what I call nuts. We plan out all our trips and we are always on a schedule as my wife has limited vacation time.
I will say that not everyone should do as much as I do. Some maybe shouldn’t even drive 6 hours….or at all.
