I believe the conversion is now Emerald. I think very few have reached the market but Liberty has formed a relationship with the company so it can be expected to be fully supported if the need should arise.

Haven’t ever owned one but the couple I have been inside were drop dead gorgeous !!

Xtreme Paint and Graphics … James Stallings company in Nacogdoches Texas has painted all there new coaches (Outlaw Coaches)… they are an advertiser on here (PC).

Also if Liberty is sticking their neck out with them they must be pretty decent !! Wouldn’t scare me to own one !!

we have an Outlaw customer whose bus is at our shop. Lots of nice dark wood cabinets. Non-slide, north south bed. Lighting is good. Av/electronics are simple and effective. Plus as stated above, the Liberty connection takes a lot of uncertainty out of the equation

John Walker, owner of Emerald/Outlaw explained to me in Louisville that the reason he can do a new coach at that price point is that they are semi-custom. You have limited choices as far as materials and lay-out. But what you do have is beautiful and well built. He started out building high end horse trailers that got fancier and fancier living quarters. It was not too much of a stretch to move to bus conversions which he did under the Outlaw name plate. He is a hands on guy and very approachable. Geo.

I had an opportunity to look and drive a 2010 Outlaw XLII in April of this year. This coach was well appointed. Beautiful stained wood cabinets, Aqua Hot, LED lights, transmission retarder and other features. My wife’s concern was the limited counter and storage space in the galley.

Before looking at this Prevost I called Outlaw and talked with an executive about this coach. I was able to get the history of this coach and find out their plans for the Outlaw and Emerald brands. After viewing the Outlaw I called this executive twice plus sent emails regarding some additional questions I had this coach. I never did receive a response to my emails or the messages that I left. The main question I was needing answer was the year of the Prevost chassis.

Reese, That’s easy enough all you need to look at is the Vin # on the dash. I looked and drove this coaches this year when they were on display at Motor Coach Country Club in Indio,Ca. They were the 2010 models with the Volvo motor and the extended wheel base

Excuse my dear friend Sid, we drove 1 of the new X3’s that were on display at MCCC. They were both 2014’s with new chassis, that’s the first thing we verified. Both under the Emerald brand.

I wish someone from Outlaw/Emerald would jump in here to verify this but looking at what’s on the market for sale they have Motor Home Specialists in TX selling the new H’s and Liberty and Transwest in CO selling the X’s under the Emerald brand. That could be coincidence but that’s what it looks like.

Reese, my wife likes there wood work too so I started searching these 4 years ago, the 2010 you were looking at if I remember correctly did not have the air vent in the rear cap on the driver side so it had no DPF. That was a pre 2008 chassis. Some of there older conversions had chassis that were a couple years older than the conversion.

I hope they keep it together, the pricepoint for a new bus is to my liking and the ladies all seem to love the rich wood interiors.

I know of a 2 year horror story on an Outlaw H that was finally corrected in CA. Electrical problem but other than that the owners are very quiet, infact I don’t even know one.

The only other concern is MHS doesn’t know buses, where’s the support, go to the factory? I believe that is the reason for the Liberty portion of the deal in the East and Transwest in the West.

My wife and I we’re impressed by the 2010 Outlaw. The cabinet construction seemed to be first rate and they did a nice job on the stain. Floor plan was to good. We are 120 miles from Prevost in Ft. Worth and 200 miles from Stephenville,Tx.

Not getting phone messages returned nor response to my emails was disappointing.

Your right in their backyard. I like them, the only caution I have is there are some design issues with items you need to get at. I don’t want to bad mouth them because I can’t verify myself but was told things like filter changes and entry areas for access are blocked due to design.

Like I said, that could be BS but something to look at, I hope I’m wrong.

As far as response, that’s a no no. That’s why I believe they are setting up there network with Liberty and Transwest.

I was all ready to sign the papers on a Outlaw until saw a new Liberty H.

The Liberty had a train horn and that’s all I wanted, so we bought the new Liberty.

Ha ha… (just kidding of course).

The true story…. In May of last year (2013) we had started thinking of moving up to a new coach so I started the search looking at Newells and Prevost’s. Since I was in the very early stages learning, I found the Outlaw Prevost and the lower MSRP of an Outlaw did catch my eye seeing them at MHS’s website. They looked good in pictures and the price seemed lower than other converters.

Fast forward to January of 2014, we started looking and comparing AND learning on the PC site. Jon and Tom were instrumental (to me) on going with a Prevost. Meeting with Frank at their show Liberty Coach was the icing on the cake with his vast knowledge of everything electrical/computer/motorized, etc. So, we ordered a Liberty Coach.

You are correct, our Emerald’s are built exclusively on the X3 Chassis, Liberty Coach, & Transwest are our exclusive dealers of the Emerald line.

The Outlaw is built on the H Chassis, and some older coaches were built on the XLII Chassis. Motor Home Specialist is the exclusive dealer for the Outlaw model. As far as MHS goes, you can get your support directly from us here at the factory.
