  • Our new to us Prevost

Good afternoon, my wife and I are now proud owners of 1996 Marathon XL 40. We are not new to coaches as we have cut our teeth on a 1999 dual slide 45′ Newell. I will say the driving experience is like driving a sports car compared to the 45′ Newell. Our original quest was to buy a 40′ non slide coach but bought the Newell and found so many campgrounds have limited spaces or none at all for 45′.

When we bought our 1988 40 footer is was not because of length but price and layout. We learned a lot in the next 20 years so when we bought our 1999 it was layout and length. We KNEW we did not want a 45′ for many of the same reasons you listed. Trying to get a 45′ into the Rincon Parkway camping area along PCH1 in Ventura, CA is mostly impossible. The beach campground Dockweiler park at the edge of the beach near El Segundo is limited to 40′. The stories go on an on. We don’t like having to pay for the Outdoor Resorts type of camping just to have somewhere to park. We are more Mom and Pop kind of folks and more interested in the location than the facilities. Sometime you get it all as long as we keep our 40 footer.

    Welcome to the group!

Congrats! 40’s are the best if you can fit what you need.
