  • Our new old Prevost Marathon

Posted by Richard on January 28, 2015 at 6:32 pm

The trigger has been pulled, ink dried and now we’re excited owners of a 1996 Prevost Marathon; #409 XL2S!

We can’t say enough good things about Steve Bennett and his side kick Tony of California Coach. Steve must have spent in excess of 40 hours going over every aspect of the bus together with driving lessons (What? You want me to merge into the 405 traffic at 5:00 pm!) We spent 5 nights over the course of 3 weekends getting a feel of the Marathon.

His patience was amazing as he went over and over the same items until he was convinced we somewhat understood the systems including the satellite antenna! If something wasn’t functioning, as he felt it should, he fixed it or got it repaired. Steve owns a 1992 Marathon that is pristine and reflects his pride of ownership. Wellnuts, air doubler, relays, TPS,etc, are becoming part of my new vocabulary.

Two hours into our maiden voyage, our cellphone rang and it was Steve checking to see how the drive was progressing…amazing customer service and now a trusted friend.

To top it off, Steve directed us to Hal Jolles of Voyager Credit (a PC advertiser). Withing 48 hours Hal got us financing..remember it’s a 1996 (good thng it’s a Marathon!!).

Too many PC members to thank but our adventure really began when we made the effort to attend PC’s Tampa Rally this past March. Tom & Jon took us under their wings for the 48 hours we were there…..a Disney E ticket ride doesn’t come close to being in the back seat of a golf cart with Tom & Jon in front, 4 hands on the steering wheel!!

Thanks again to Steve and everyone else who is part of the PC family!!!

You have joined the Marathon gang and welcome to PC.

As you travel and get more comfortable you will be ready for a trip of a lifetime. Take a look at the Marathon web site as a rally is being put together to Quebec where your bus was born. There are a couple of things you need to join prior to sign up and are explained on the Marathon site.

Steve Bennett has worked with a lot of bus owners over the years. Great guy in the bus business.

    Al,

We were hoping to meet you and Mary Ellen at the MCC a couple of weeks ago.

Wind the clock back a year….we missed you when we were looking at the Marathon on display at the MCC a year ago.

On our recent visit, we got a chance to tour your previous coach owned by Tom and Bill.

Beautiful coach, I can’t believe you let it go! The wood is beautiful and the closet space is enormous!

Hope our tracks cross in the future!

    Safe travels,

    Mark

    Congratulations
Rick and Vicki, I had no doubt you were going to find the right bus.
As for the golf cart ride, I think I was a passenger and the crazy
driving was Jon, he thought he was on his lawn mower, he get’s
    confused sometimes.

    Now
that we have helped you spend your money, enjoy your Marathon and
post often, we have lot’s of Marathon owners here.

    Now the learning begins. Congratulations.

And never forget you can get answers to all your questions right here on the PC forum, and on certain rare occasions some might actually be correct.

Congratulations on owning Marathon Coach #409. We loved that coach. If my count is right, youre the seventh owner of the coach, and the second and fourth owners, who did the complete makeover in 2004 were the same people. In case you didn’t know, 409 was green, white and black on the interior originally. But I’m sure Steve B filled you in on the history.

Always exciting to read about someone coming into the lifestyle. The joy of traveling a new road in life.

Call me old fashioned or what … But I like reading stuff like this.
