We have been buying our R-12 from sellers on Craigslist locally at about $10/pound. So, a 30# can is $3000 in its original box with tags from the maker/ not relaimed R-12.. We use our local Stewart and Stevenson shop for install. Works out great!

OK, Got in the bus today to run it a little and fuel up at the local watering hole for trucks, 3.80 a gallon. 20 miles there and twenty back. Well when about 5 miles from home decided to try the OTR and see what would happen. You ain’t gonna believe it! It came on and worked great. Now why did it not work on the way back from FLA? Do I have a poltergise in my bus?
-
I think the IRS suspended the OTR until you paid your taxes on the big bucks you earned in 2011.

That sounds very much like an intermittent electrical connection. Possibly a lazy relay, bad or loose terminal connection, but unlikely a circuit breaker because they don’t reset. Maybe a bad switch?
-
I suupose it’s also possible you had just enough freon to keep the low pressure switch from shutting you down or the low pressure switch itself may be intermittent.

Well, a strange thing, while I was looking in the blower compartment, I found a secret service credit card, and a high heel shoe, I guess they, rolling around in there could have caused a wire to come loose. Now what can I buy with this credit card ? hmmm!

Hi Tom,
It is coincidental that I have the same problem with my 92 H3-40, because I almost bought the one you have. How do you like it so far (aside from the little mechanical problems that we all encouner)?
My OTR problem is similar in that the fan works but it only blows out warm air.

Georges,
We are enjoying the H3-40. Leaving in the morning for Nashville, TN for the weekend.
I had a friend to recharge the system and it works great. It will get a real test this trip with temps close to 90. This coach had already been changed to 134 so that was not an issue. The book calls for 25 pounds of R12 so he recovered what was there and pulled a vacumn and put back 16 pounds of 134 and the pressures were where they we supposed to be. The air coming out the floor vents was 38.5 degrees so all is well. Hopefully it will not leak out too fast!!!
We need to get together and compare H3-40 notes.

WOW……….38.5 degrees, I guess it is working good now !
It was closer to 138 degrees inside mine when we drove it up to Orlando a couple of weeks ago to have it checked out at the place where I bought it.
Getting it back next week and hopefully all will be cool and we can take some trips with it.

We used the bus air both going to Nashville and coming home. It kept the bus and driver nice and cool even with the morning sun shinning in all of that glass. My copilot did get a little warm since there are no dash vents blowing on her so we put a fan in the aisle to blow cool air to her side of the front and all was well.
It did start flashing the Low Pressure light on the trip to Nashville again so I am wondering if we did not put enough freon in or if my leak is worse than I had hoped or the pressure switch is not right.
