  • OTR vs. Bus Air?

Posted by Tim on April 27, 2015 at 9:24 pm

Just so I get this right, the following Prevost states it has “Bus Air.” Is Bus Air the same as the OTR in a Liberty?

I think I have this down: OTR and/or Bus Air or Dash Air operate off the Diesel Engine vs. either the Cruise Air or Roof Air operate off the generator, 50amp service, or the inverters. However, only the generator can run all the Cruise Airs or Roof Airs at the same time due to the power draw.

I think you have it right. Roof airs and Cruie-Aires should be able to be operated from shorepower as well, subject to the limitations of what is usually 50amp service.

I have had both ways ,dash air and heat only at dash for driver and passenger and roof airs , it kept me warm and cool up front at the drivers area roof airs can be run on some with inverter or gen back of driver the coach can get hot or cold what ever temps are outside….. I now have OTR air and heat which heats or cools the hole coach when going down the road from motor and cruise airs will heat or cool coach when parked off gen or shore power or some can do it off inverters, I travel from March to Dec move every week I like the OTR air or heat when driving the cruise airs are not loud when on use only when parked

Think you got it right Tim. On my 91 coach (with OTR air) when I first bought it, 3 cruise airs were hooked to 8 (8D) batteries and would run off inverter. Dropped to 3 (8D’s batteries) and had it rewired so they (cruiseairs) would not come on with battery bank. Run Gen Set if need cruiseairs without shore power available.
