  • OTR 24V supply always live?

Posted by Gerald on October 12, 2020 at 3:00 pm

It was my turn to have the evaporator motor solenoid go out. As other people have mentioned, the evaporator and condenser solenoids and breakers are in the condenser bay. Coil resistance went from 65 Ohm to 26 Ohm. Must have partially shorted inside.

I turned off all 24V and 12 V switches on the passenger side of the engine bay but to my surprise, the 24V supply in the condenser bay remained live. I was extra careful covering most exposed wiring in the wiring box with the solenoids and breakers. Nothing bad happened but I’m wondering if this is normal or if I have some “custom” wiring? It all looks factory.

Anyway, be careful changing those solenoids.

    • The “master switch” just right of the ignition key should remove power to the solenoids. Are you replacing all the solenoids?
