Well it was the first time I fueled up in Oregon at a Love’s …

Come to find out the advertised price is not what RVer’s pay. You must have a commercial license and a “PUC permit.” I thought I would be paying $2.44 per gal.; however, I paid $2.74 per gal.

Only State I’ve been to that Love’s, Pilot, etc. advertised prices are for commerical truck driver’s only.

    Lesson learned …

Becareful in Indiana as well. You need to have a DOT# to buy fuel in the truck lanes. DO NOT try to go through the RV lane “out front” like the counter person is likely to recommend. You won’t fit.

Tim, we pulled into the Love’s at Boardman, OR and used the card we got from the Fuel Discount Program. Pump price was shown as $2.689 and we got 65.52 gallons, after which the pump showed $176.18. When I got the email from Profit Tools for that stop, it confirmed we were charged $2.599 per gallon for a total of $169.63, a savings of $6.55. Then the $10 transaction fee (because of less than 100 gallons) was applied, but still a savings of $5.55. Not to mention the convenience of not having to go inside until after the fueling was done. Probably don’t have to do that either, but Kirby likes to get the receipt (and a bag of potato chips, LOL). Are you using the fuel program?

Where are you headed in Oregon? Linda

Most truck stops in OR will show 4 diesel prices, diesel with PUC permit and without and paid with cash or credit. I guess OR is concerned that truckers would not buy enough fuel in the state, so trucks are charged on a weight/mile basis every month. Seems like a lot of overhead/complexity. They are also thinking about charging cars by mileage.

    Yes,

I use the Profit Tools and have for the last 20 months. I told Love’s that this was a commercial card. They asked for my PUC permit. I said … “What”?

Maybe the mistake I made was to go inside. Usually I don’t, but my pump was not working and I had to get the clerk to start it inside.

Next time, I’ll definitely not go inside … if that’s the issue.

Arizona has separate fuel prices for diesel in car/RV island vs truck island, too
