Open Sesame
Posted by gary on March 12, 2014 at 6:26 amLow and behold, The slide works again, It took a day and a half to figure it out but thanks to Tim at J=ville he would not give up. first thought it was a transducer, then a motor, and all kinds of test it turned out to be the motor controller, slide works again! I and my wife just looked at all that floor space, and said you know I really like slides “when they work” Gary

Congrats on the repair!
One of the important options that I wanted was PREVOST only slides. They have just ‘in and out’ movement and no pivoting.
Looking at the example ‘show’ Liberty Coach in CA, getting use to pushing the slide button and nothing happening right away will take some getting use to (air bladder releasing)…. and, the amazing amount of air coming in when extending the slide from the driver’s window will almost knock you out of the seat (exaggerating, almost). LOL!

Sid, the old body is functioning just fine now, hope it stays that way, I am at Millenium now for replace and repair the lower panels on the first three door on drivers side, I first noticed this when in Maine on the lobster run, was just one door then, I am told by the techs here that this is a common problem on H,s They said that the doors are Fiberglass and the lower panels are plastic and tht extreme cold weather will make them crack, Two other coaches are in line to get all the lower panels replaced, I bought the doors at Prevost 2200 bucks a piece, cost to remove, repaint, reinstall 22000! Thats 9500 per panel ouch! I guess the cold weather is the problem because only one panel was cracked before I went to Raleigh for the winter, right before I left is when I noticed the others cracked. It just does not add up these are the same door panels that are on seated buses and they run every day in the cold up north, any one else had this problem? Gary

good morning Gary I believe I have the answer to your cracked panels. Start the motorhome and head to Motorcoach country club in Indio California where the weather today is going to be 85° by this weekend 95 and they say that as a cure for all cracked panels plus it does the body some good. And if that doesn’t work boaterAl promises he’ll take a look at it for you at no charge.

Sid, I walked in the shop here and looked at different coaches that were in repair for one thing or another and counted 5 coaches with cracked panels one had 5 so this is a problem that h,s have I guss most just let them go but I can not do that have to keep it as much as new as I can cost a lot but we knew that when we bought Prevost, the old saying holds true “you get what you pay for” gary

This sounds like a case where you Did Not get what you paid for! That’s really unusual for the Prevost product. Cracked panels should not be something you have to deal with just because you choose to use the bus in colder areas. It sounds like a manufacturers defect and something the owners should not be paying to fix.
