Olivia on The Travel Channel
I have been debating myself to decide if I should let you know about this because it is at the risk of having you see me making a fool of myself on National TV … 🙂 … but, here goes. The 3 of us, i.e. Olivia, my wife Gabi and meself will be in good company when you view The Travel Channel on Tuesday, June 24 at 9 pm.
In May of 2013, High Noon Entertainment, the producers of the Mega RV show, dispatched 3 guys to Boston to meet up with us and to film a segment about Olivia. They forewarned me ahead of time that filming would be an 8 hours day for us. I did not believe it, wondering what would they do filming Olivia for 8 hours. Well, it took 12 hours!
This included some time filming Olivia on I-95 with me driving the bus in the right hand lane, while their van was travelling in the left hand lane, sliding door open and cameraman hanging half way out of the van with his big camera in hand. They were concentrating on this so much, they missed their exit because we were heading towards the best Chinese restaurant in the USA to have lunch at the OCEAN WOK on Rte 1A in Hampton Beach, NH. The restaurant is the size of a double-wide and the parking lot in front of it has space for about 10 cars. Guess, where I parked Olivia?!?!!? It helps being friends with the owners (and them getting some free advertising). They blocked off the space for me after I phoned ahead to let them know we were on the way.
The film crew mounted 5 cameras inside the bus and 2 outside. While we spent a few hours driving around in NH, I had to stop many times so that they could rearrange the camera lens angles. Each time I was told where to stop next, sometimes just a few hundred yards up the road, because they had scouted the area for the best camera positions.
Anyway, for those of you interested to see Olivia and us getting our 30 seconds of fame on TV, make sure to watch next Tuesday.
