Well I guess that’s Bens’s bridges well and truly burned. Should’ve just taken it on the chin and moved on. He certainly has the right to question Jeff’s pricing, but in comparison with other shops that provide a comparable service, not with DIY. I think he’ll find the world just got a whole lot smaller the next time he has a problem. Can’t see a queue of people waiting to help.

I read the post in its entirety. I am pretty tolerant of criticism and open discussions as long as they are not personal attacks. We all benefit from critical discussion.

The post was a personal attack about the quality of the work of Jeff’s guys. It did not explain any deficiency in their work other than the short time they have spent doing the type of work they do. If they did anything wrong on Ben’s coach he did not say. Most of the post was about Ben’s skills as a contractor.

I doubt if Tom would have deleted the post if Ben had a problem with the work performed, if he had first discussed it with Jeff, and if he failed to resolve the problem he had then posted factually about the issue. But Ben did none of the above. We let the first post stand even though it was all about prices, and because we know if Jeff wanted to discuss it in depth he had the opportunity. The ensuing discussion was valuable because it pointed out what we businessmen know, and that there is a lot more to paying for services than the price on the can of oil.

This last post went in a different direction and I fully support the decision to delete it.
